Rustic and perfect for the minimalist!
The inn was nice and rustic. The room only had a bed, dresser, and sink. The hotel information should state clearly and in plain view that there is no bathroom located in each room and they are communal. It's stated on the website but it's hidden well. The rooms have no adjustable thermostat.
Breakfast was great but the coffee was watered down.
It is a nice place if you are looking for bare minimum mountain rustic. HOWEVER it is NOT worth $150 per night... Especially when they double charge you for your stay. The MGR was great and quickly fixed the double charge.
For an authentic Rocky Mountain experience, this is the place to stay. It really felt like a true mountain hideaway with a wonderful throw-back spirit to days gone by. The ambiance and smell of the fireplace as I entered the lobby, the historical aspect of all the past visitors and the history of the keys, the wonderful three-course breakfast, the character of the facility, the sights and sounds of the hummingbirds outside our window, the view of the mountains, the smell of the forest, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the character of the rooms, just made the stay one I'll always remember. It will definitely be at the top of my list the next time I stay near the Rocky Mountain National Park.

The location was very good. Not to comfortable with the bathroom and shower situation
Charming, rustic inn with excellent service and a delicious hot breakfast, so rare during the pandemic. Wonderful to hike popular RMNP trails adjacent to the inn property, saving a drive and a reservation for park entry.
The Inn is over 100 years old and steep in history. It is a great spot for anyone who loves history, and fantastic views. The staff is awesome, and Lois (the innkeeper) is the best. She always takes time to talk to her guest, and truly cares and enjoys it! Her breakfast each morning is out of this world, and you must take time to have a healthy lunch or dinner in the dining room... but be sure to have a slice of her pie!!!
It was such a pleasure to share this special place with my granddaughter. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the quiet time together...Simply a wonderfully uncluttered personal experience.

Nice but not that nice
This establishment is very expensive and not altogether comfortable. But we knew what we were getting when we booked this reservation.
Historic property away from the hustle of EP. Charmingly throwback in some ways but with enough conveniences to make it an intriguingly and acceptable alternative. Feels like you stepped back in time. Great breakfast and snacks in the evening are unexpected pluses. My only gripe was that the pillows are overfilled and hurt my neck.
If you don't mind no AC, outside window that doesn't close an no screen, communal bathrooms, no TV in your Room, paper thin walls (can hear every little noise from other rooms), no curtains to block people in cabins next to you peering in your window, no security, a lamp on the headboard that you hit your head on all night then this is the place for you! Not my cup of tea.
Baldpate is a very old, quirky inn. Bathrooms are down the hall, the food is mediocre at best. But the hummingbirds and the views are spectacular.

Estes Park gem
Our stay in the beautiful Baldpate Inn B & B -- an antiquated gem of a mountain lodge within Estes Park -- was thoroughly enjoyable. One is surrounded by images of its glory days of old with early - mid 20th c. photos and memorabilia; filled with hearty house specialty soups, salads and desserts; and welcomed to the picturesque porch by hummingbirds and like-minded hikers and other guests. , .

We expected the property to be rustic, but this place needs some work.
This 102-year-old Inn is a true charmer. Even with shared bath and shower, the room was beautiful, an in-room sink, gorgeous old hardwood floors. And the bed was truly comfortable - fit for royalty! And where else would you find an original 1928 copy of a book by Zane Grey lying idly by on your night table? Every meal we had there was prepared and served with quiet elegance. We plan to return soon!

Charming look with a Sleep challenge
Charming place, interesting history, cheerful and friendly staff/management, and delicious food. Worst bed ever! We propped up the mattress with some of the pillows but basically did not sleep. We recommend you stop there for the view, the history-key collection, and food. It is for sale and maybe new owners will replace the beds. I can't recommend trying to sleep there.
Beautiful view, great service. Wine and cookies by the fireplace. Aspens changing. Crisp weather. Very Romantic. Only detail didn’t like little lamp above bed. Hit my head on it.
If you want to stay at an old Historic Landmark, soon to close, up for sale, then this is the trip for you. If you are older and don't like stairs, book elsewhere. Room tiny, shower not safe (slippery), no grab bar. The double bed was mashed against a wall that angled in and it was difficult to get into and out of.
Based on novel by Earl Derr Biggers Charlie Chan novel, Seven Keys to Baldpate, one area contains pictures and keys from all over. Teddy Roosevelt stayed at the inn. We stayed in room Jack Dempsey stayed in.
It was an adventure. We were awakened twice. Overnight the resident dog went out to bark and chase the bears off. Then a raccoon visited the roof.
