LOCATION
This cabin is perfectly sandwiched between downtown Fairbanks and the Chena Hot Springs Resort, cozily tucked in genuine Alaskan woods. Far enough removed from Fairbanks light pollution for perfect Aurora viewing but still a comfortable (and gorgeous) drive in for groceries or dinner in town. As gorgeous as the drive in to town is, its even better out to Chena hot springs resort. This location cuts the drive in half from town to the Hot Springs to allow for an easy evening of fun at the resort. You don't need a room there to enjoy their phenomenal restaurant and bar or to buy a day pass for a soak in the springs!
Come experience this cabin for yourself as the perfect romantic Arctic getaway.

**** This cabin is an Alaskan escape. A place to be away, to enjoy the outdoors and to immerse yourself in a world revolved around the true peace of wild spruce trees and quiet life. There is no provided Wi-Fi (cell data works great for most providers and I use my hotspot for my laptop). My service provider is Verizon and it works wonderfully.

THE CABIN
A gorgeous combination of the heavy wood cabin in your Alaskan dream vacation with a modern flare. One of the best features? The spaciously luxurious loft. Fitted with a king size bed, canopy curtains and a view of the 5 acres of Alaskan woods this property sits on. Walk down the stairs each morning to the sunrise glow streaming in through the large windows that adorn the entire cabin. This stay is brimming with natural light and a feel of the outdoors. Even once the sun is down, dimmable up lighting allows for the feel of daylight no matter the time of day. Faux furs and blankets adorning the entire place keeps the cabin soft, warm and a cozy environment you wont want to leave. The living space is outfitted with expertly picked out, upscale wicker furnishings that are pet friendly, allowing for FULL washable coverings and a complete clean wipe down for no lingering smells or dandruff. Pristine, for each new guest to make the cabin their own vacation. A full kitchen with an open floor plan to the living areas will be the sweetest place for a dinner in or a hearty breakfast before your days adventure. One of the most exciting aspects? Staying out in the woods WITHOUT an outhouse! A beautiful full bathroom with a large tub, shower and décor to suit a relaxing getaway.

***Please note *** Well water has been tested and is safe for consumption. The hot water has a slight sulphur odor (shower). If this would be a problem for you we recommend considering another rental.
***The third bedroom with the twin bed is accessed THROUGH the master loft. AKA you will be walking past the king bed to get to this room. Once you are in the 3rd bedroom, the door shuts completely and is entirely private.

Great place to stay
The cabin is super cozy, a real labor of love. We were lucky to have multiple nights of seeing the aurora during our visit, but enjoyed watching it most right outside the cabin. We also enjoyed the private dog mushing and our dog team made it a very enjoyable experience. Overall we had a great time, and hope to be back again someday. Highly recommend!

Perfect cabin, Great location & Sled dog demo on site!
The cabin was perfect for our group of 4 adults. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. It was an easy distance to drive to the hot springs and we enjoyed seeing moose on the drive. We added the dog sled demonstration on to our stay and enjoyed the experience. As a tourist, you don't often get the opportunity to interact with your host. Meeting Elke and her dogs was a highlight of our trip to Alaska. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin and your mushing stories with us.

The true Alaskan Experience
The location and layout of the property gave us the feeling that we were truly in the wilderness. We fully expected to look out and see a moose wandering through the fire pit area. While we were only 45 minutes from most of the activities we had planned, we felt the experience of being in the real Alaska. Thank you for being a part of a great start to our Alaska adventure.

Cozy winter getaway at rustic cabin in the woods
Stayed 6 nights in late March. Lots of snow around cabin which was quite pretty and made for a quiet retreat, except for when a few tons of snow slid off the roof one afternoon and we thought it was an earthquake!! That was crazy. Cabin is situated off the beaten path in densely treed area. Dark at night, though we weren't able to see Northern Lights :( Limited dining options in Pleasant Valley (5 min drive). Plan accordingly! Wagners food truck was great, the pizza especially. Also had a great dinner at Chena (45 min drive) in the lodge which a was pretty cool hangout! Got to see a moose on drive back to cabin which was awesome! Cabin has fully functional but small kitchen allowed for making breakfast at home and some lunches. Nice coffee maker, so bring your grounds! Fridge is in an add-on room off kitchen, along with washer/dryer which was nice to have. Would've appreciated more plates, coffee mugs, forks/spoons so we didn't have to do dishes so frequently on vaca, but we made do. Cabin shows its age in some areas, but was clean and cutely furnished. Could use some updating (kitchen/bathroom floors) and definitely could some window coverings in upstairs sleeping loft to help block out the sun. We improvised and stacked pillows in the sills adjacent the bed. Loved the canopy around the bed upstairs! Beds were on the firmer side, we slept great. Living room furniture could be updated for price point of cabin (summer outdoor furniture), though living room was cozy otherwise. Some board games would be a nice addition! Overall, for our family, we found 1-2 less days would have been ideal, with a few nights in Fairbanks to experience Fairbanks' attractions (museum, cultural center, ice museum/sculpture competition, breweries, shopping, Pump House restaurant and the Crepery!) We got a little restless after day 4 at the cabin after having made a day trip out to Chena Hotsprings, partaking in some dog sledding, ice fishing (Rod's was great!) and snowmachining. We have a hard time relaxing because we're active people, but for others who can relax more easily, the cabin is a perfect place to be if your looking for a relaxing getaway!

Elke's Cabin
There are no words to describe just how wonderful Elke and her cabin are. Really! The cabin itself was beautifully decorated, the beds extremely comfortable, and the kitchen well stocked with everything needed to make breakfast and dinner. The morning light coming in through the windows, and seeing the Northern Lights right outside at night made the cabin feel magical. The washer/dryer were appreciated after spending time at Chena Hot Springs. The wood burning stove was mesmerizing, as we looked forward to ending the day sipping tea/coffee by the fire. We did have one movie night in the TV room/bedroom upstairs, next to the bedroom loft. Location was perfect, as we were centrally located to town, and the hot springs, both 30-45 min away. North Pole, reindeer walk, hikes were easily accessible. There is a feel of seclusion, without being isolated. Elke herself was a joy to meet, such a bubbly and energetic personality! Her love of her dogs, and passion for dog sledding was evident, and infectious! We thoroughly enjoyed the included mushing experience and hot cider in a tent! Communication with Elke was a breeze, she was prompt with updates and responses, including letting me know when the auroras were out! Her honesty, and moral character was demonstrated when she called me after checking out to alert me that my jewelry was found. We'd definitely return to this cabin in the future, and encourage anyone considering a visit to Fairbanks to book this amazing place!!

Fantastic House and Host
Elke, the host, is an amazing person who made the stay lovely. She took my wife and I on an wonderful sled ride. It was magical. Elke has such passion for her dogs and sledding and that passion shows in both her careful attention to detail at her beautiful lodge to her very responsive communication. The lodge is in the perfect location for seeing the Northern lights. What a treat! Thank you Elke!
