We’ve pulled together all the info you need to make your journey a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and you’ll be hightailing it through airport security and having a ball in Burwell before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a pain-free flight experience is to be prepared. Start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, bank cards and important medications. Next, bring items that’ll help while away those hours, like some electronic gadgets or a good read. It’s also smart to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, be sure to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won’t be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to pack a pullover just in case you get cold. Opt for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as it’s possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It’s the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this occurring. Wearing a pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce the risk.
