Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Chittenden escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a pleasure if you bring the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and something to read. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and fuels, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and bring a cardigan as it tends to get cool in the cabin. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a sensible choice.
- The serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
