• Air travel can be a great experience if you take the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. What to wear on a flight:

• Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by layering up, and pick slightly roomy, flat footwear like slip-ons.
• You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To lessen your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your lower limbs often.

As savvy travellers know, the secret is to be well prepared before you reach security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Haus in no time at all. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a fantastic start:

• Take all prohibited items out of your carry-on bag. If you have any sharp objects like a pocket knife or tools, pack them safely away in your checked baggage. They won't be allowed on board.
