We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our top tips and you'll be speeding through airport security and seeing the best of Sollies Pont before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a hassle-free flight experience is to pack ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, cash and medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help while away those hours, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling novel. It's also smart to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Finally, don't forget to toss in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and items that could injure passengers, such as swords and batons, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of a plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and bring a cardigan as it can get chilly inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are always a good choice too.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-haul flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are also a great idea to help lower your risk.
