Got away for a weekend before Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the hot tub, cooked together (kitchen was pretty well stocked with things you might need) (we bring all our own favorite cooking things), and had a fire to keep the place warm. It was a bit drafty - it was a very blustery afternoon/night - so bring your house slippers and get ready for a nice coastal getaway.

We rented this property for my husband's birthday. We needed pets allowed, a hot tub and walking distance to the beach. Our only complaint is that the hot was drained when we got there. Staff did come fill it but not until the next day. We only stayed 2 nights and the hot tub was the main reason for renting this property so that was very disappointing. Other than that everything was great.

The house was in a great location, short walk to the beach. Interesting details and architecture. There was a problem with the electrical outlets and the heater wouldn’t come on. Vacasa responded quickly and send someone over with a space heater. We went and bought wood to use the fireplace and that was perfect. Don’t stay here if you’re afraid to build a fire or you’ll freeze!

Overall it was a successful stay. House is cozy and has a fun layout. Great to have toys and books with TVs in the rooms, kitchen was stocked. Beds were comfortable, sheets were soft. Great to be able to bring the dog. Close short 5 min walk to the huge beach. Some cleanliness points left something to be desired, cobwebs on model sailboats, mildew/mold on windows, towels smelled like stale butter popcorn. Hot tub buttons were broken and tub was already sandy when we arrived. Overall it was good and would recommend.

We had a great long weekend at Heceta House. We loved being able to use the hot tub and dry our bathing suits and towels in the dryer so they would be ready for next use. We all thought the beds and pillows were comfortable. We loved the third floor "bird's nest" room with the view of the ocean. We also liked how close the walk to the beach access is. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, etc but was a little lacking in forks and spoons. We had everything we needed for a fun, pleasant stay. Parking can be tricky if you have multiple vehicles, as there are 4 spots total that you share with another, smaller unit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return again to Heceta House.

Enjoyed the house overall for it's spacious kitchen, rustic & nautical feel. The tiny room on third level with view of ocean was a hidden treat. Full deck was also a plus. My rating falls short of a 5 because of inadequate response to our call for help with defective heating. House was extremely cold with nonfunctional heater. After calls for help and promises of someone coming 'shortly', we were left waiting until 10am the following day. We were told that the heating unit could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. Meanwhile, we had to use two small portable space heaters, we found in the house, to heat this 3 bedroom, 3 storied house. No further assistance was provided.

When we got there the ladies that were cleaning were just finishing up and leaving. One of them made sure to tell me how hard they worked to clean and refill the hot tub and asked me to “please not get it dirty again”, lol. The house could be super cute if the furniture wasn’t decades old and pretty much destroyed. My husband and I joked about buying and donating a nicer recliner from goodwill so the house would have one piece of decent furniture. The fridge was literally duct taped together inside. So we couldn’t put anything too heavy on the door shelves or the bottom shelf. The tv was the smallest I’ve ever seen in a vacation home. I’m just going to stop here because I feel bad and usually don’t say anything if it’s not nice but I definitely would not spend money to stay here again.

The staff was wonderful, the house was AMAZING. I loved the hottub and fire place. Being so close to the beach was wonderful. I have no complaints about the house or the stay... BUT there was a small cottage that was in the same property. You have the choice of renting the house or the cottage or both. We had just rented the house and the other cottage got rented out too. I wish we had gotten informed about this because we got a loud knock on our door around 9pm and was told to move our cars. The lady was rude and we were all heading to bed around the time she showed up. Then she and her friend had one car each making the parking nearly impossible to get in and out of our cars. All could have been avoided or at least more understandable if the company had at least emailed me about this other renter; especially since it's all the same property.

from the moment we arrived it was horrable.. We were greeted by another person in the driveway renting a shack on the same property....From there it only gets worse.. this is a 3 story very tall house with kids rooms up stairs with No safety locks on windows or screens.. Very ran down house.. Pet friendly..Hmmm How about the ant poison packets all over?? So glad my dog had to stay in her kennel the entire stay...The front door has holes and cracks thru it....The TOILET doenst work and Not a single heater in the entire house worked...When we contacted the rental Company VACASA they told us we could leave and go home...Thats a 5 hour drive with my kids and dog in the middle of the night...I could write a book on how bad and unsafe this place is!!!! and we have tons of pictures to show....We would like a refund as this is absolutly unexcusable......

It would have been helpful to have instructions on how and if the heater worked. Also the instruction about how to leave the house in the house before we left . We got them after we arrived home. Not the owners fault,. Step -up Vacasa. Called Vacasa about the heat they really weren't helpful. The house was super clean. and very quiet.

Nice little home only a few blocks from the the beach. Nice deck and an awesome little kids room that our toddler was obsessed with. The hot tube could use some TLC but still works. WiFi wasn't the greatest. The top room is fun to look out and see the ocean. Property is close to downtown Florence which is nice for a quick tip and back for dinner and such. Definitely would stay again.
