We stayed at The Gate House for 3 nights with our Golden Retriever. A charming and cosy place to stay with a sensational backdrop down the valley. In the grounds of a house further up the hill, we were spoilt with peace and quiet and just the odd occasional car going past down the lane a short distance away. You're allocated your own garden which is not enclosed but wasn't a problem for our dog. There is a BBQ outside, chairs, a table and a parasol. Parking for 2 cars at the front of the property.
The master bedroom, which was the only one we used was very quirky with beautiful beams and an amazing en-suite through glass doors so that light still came into the room. A fantastic bath with a recharge area for your toothbrush! Very handy! I couldn't find a hair dryer in either room.
There is also a downstairs shower room which has a rainfall shower head, so you get a good soaking.
The kitchen area was generally well equipped and functional with beautiful views out over the tennis court and valley beyond. I would have appreciated a small serrated knife and a larger serrated bread knife too. The cupboards were all built in and held a good range of crockery and oven items, etc.
The lounge and dining area worked well together and we had a few evenings in where we felt very much at home!
The local gastro pub 'The Marquis of Granby' had superb food, and we'd recommend it.
Overall, a great stay, would thoroughly recommend, unique and unusual, it's a delight to spend time at The Gate House. Many thanks to Toby for sharing his property.
