Comfortable, characterful place to stay in a great location

Beautifully presented and very comfortable cottage, ideal for Folkestone and the surrounding area. Well equipped and clean - we had everything we needed. Hosts were friendly but not over bearing - just left us to enjoy our holiday. Would definately stay again.

The Gate House is on a beautiful country property co-located with a full time home nearby. The home owner was very friendly and helpful with input the nearby sites. Property was as advertised and very comfortable for 4 people.

Beautiful house

Went for my daughters birthday, the weather wasn't great so we couldn't enjoy the grounds. We had to ask for tennis rackets and balls to play tennis, but they responded in a couple of hours. Overall the house was beautiful and clean and views of the surrounding land made it a very pleasant stay.

Cosy countryside stay close to the beach!

We had a lovely weekend at the Gate House with our dog. The House is very cosy, clean and well-equipped, set in a beautiful estate. A lovely countryside escape situated very close to Folkestone, which has beautiful beaches, cafes and pubs. Would highly recommend!

Great long weekend

The Gate House was a cosy and comfortable base for a visit to the Folkestone area. In a beautiful setting, the owners allowed us to use the extensive grounds and the children loved the space. The house had everything you'd need for a relaxing break.

Pre Christmas family break

Beautiful surroundings and stay

We had a fabulous stay at the Gatehouse so tucked away and peaceful. The owners were lovely and made us feel welcome and at home! (If only it was our home!) The Gate house itself was beautiful and even the modern decor was so colourful and refreshing inside but still the building and it's history you can fall in love with as well as the views! Wonderful stay at The Gate House

Had a fabulous and very peaceful stay. Beds and linen were very comfortable and has a very well equipped kitchen. The owners were delightful and extremely helpful giving us plenty of ideas of what to do/see. Folkestone Harbour is definitely worth a visit and so is the local village Pub. The only issue we had was with the WiFi and TV (no terrestrial channels), but we weren't there to sit and watch TV and be on the Wifi!!!! Thank you very much for a really wonderful stay.

Our stay at the Gate House.

The Gate House was very beautiful. Loved the way it has been restored and original features maintained and kept. Loved the windows! It is also very tastefully decorated, beautifully bright and colourful. Bathrooms are kitted out well.The roll top bath was awesome. The bedrooms and beds were superb.Top quality bedding and linen. The Ensuite bathroom may benefit from having some privacy with the loo. The grounds surrounding the cottage were gorgeous and the tennis court was a bonus enjoyed by my sons. A big plus for us was that it was dog friendly so we were able to bring our cockapoo with us. The kitchen had under floor heating, fantastic. It was home away from home for us.

Beautifully quiet surroundings

We stayed at The Gate House for 3 nights with our Golden Retriever. A charming and cosy place to stay with a sensational backdrop down the valley. In the grounds of a house further up the hill, we were spoilt with peace and quiet and just the odd occasional car going past down the lane a short distance away. You're allocated your own garden which is not enclosed but wasn't a problem for our dog. There is a BBQ outside, chairs, a table and a parasol. Parking for 2 cars at the front of the property. The master bedroom, which was the only one we used was very quirky with beautiful beams and an amazing en-suite through glass doors so that light still came into the room. A fantastic bath with a recharge area for your toothbrush! Very handy! I couldn't find a hair dryer in either room. There is also a downstairs shower room which has a rainfall shower head, so you get a good soaking. The kitchen area was generally well equipped and functional with beautiful views out over the tennis court and valley beyond. I would have appreciated a small serrated knife and a larger serrated bread knife too. The cupboards were all built in and held a good range of crockery and oven items, etc. The lounge and dining area worked well together and we had a few evenings in where we felt very much at home! The local gastro pub 'The Marquis of Granby' had superb food, and we'd recommend it. Overall, a great stay, would thoroughly recommend, unique and unusual, it's a delight to spend time at The Gate House. Many thanks to Toby for sharing his property.

Kurzaufenthalt

Wir waren nur sehr kurz im Gate House, nutzten die Unterkunft um uns von der langen Autofahrt aus Cornwall zu erholen und schnell die Verbindung zum Channel-Tunnel zu haben. Trotzdem es so kurz war, können wir es absolut empfehlen. Schönes, kleines Häuschen, mit super bequemem Bett und wundervollem Garten.
