Washington Founders Library Hotels

"We stayed for 3 nights in April in a ‘King-bed with a city view’ room. The room was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel was in a great location - about 15-20 mins walk to the White House and 8-10 minutes walk to a metro stop. This made getting around Washington DC easy. Unfortunately the rooftop bar and pool were not open as this is seasonal. Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate so we only had breakfast at the hotel on one morning. It was delicious but expensive (compared to other DC restaurants we ate in). The only thing that we were disappointed by was the additional daily $35 "amenities fee” which we were told covered the cost of wifi access and in room tea, coffee and water which was replenished on request. This is something most hotels of this caliber provide as standard. Overall we had a great stay at Zena and would recommend the hotel - just be aware of the additional daily tax."

"This was probably the best hotel that I’ve ever stayed in!! There is always something to do! The front desk and bar crew went above and beyond and made our 3 day weekend feel like home! I will be back! "

"Had high hopes for this new to me hotel. Sadly for the price I didn't see the value: walls were thin; black out shades were not cut to size leaving large gaps for light; coffee pot was broken; electrical sockets didn't work - leaving my phone uncharged and me on short power for a very long day in the city; promises of an Arlo yoga mat went unfulfilled when the house keeping member handed me additional coffee pods and said "we don't have the mats." There's great potential, but not sure I'll return given the multiple shortcomings."

"The location was great for our stay to visit a few museums in the city. We also took a preteen and teenager with us and this was a great family environment. The breakfast buffet was awesome and the staff members were very friendly and ready to assist!"

"It was awfully rxpensive, but apparently there was a meeting going on in town so most hotels were booked and those that weren’t definitely had surge pricing! I’d have liked a vending machine with the ice machine on the halls. We just wanted to have a Coke in the room and you couldn’t. We even asked at the front desk if there was a vending machine anywhere nope so we went to the restaurant to order a couple to go (no room service option) and they said I’m sorry food and drink can’t leave our restaurant. I said not even a Coke? And was told sorry policy. So that was weird. Otherwise the room was spacious, the staff was nice. "

"Everything at the hotel was great and the rooms are big and comfortable, but I had a problem at check-in because the reservations department had decided to cancel my reservation even though I had notified them that I would arrive the following morning."

"This was such a great little find! I always look for a boutique hotel that’s unique and that’s what this hotel is… beautiful rooms and bathrooms, great lobby and bar, a nice little restaurant with great breakfast choices. The staff was amazing and they always open the door for you! The only hiccup is that the hot water can take a little bit to get going, but that’s nothing compared to the beautiful silence in our rooms and the design. And the location is perfect! We Uber’d so no review on parking."
