There is a ping-pong table, corn hole boards, mini air-hockey table, old time record player, TV with video games and a DVD player with movies in the garage. Great spot for kids or to flip open the garage doors on a nice day and enjoy time with family and friends. You will also find an old-timey, hand crank, ice cream maker for your use.

Outdoors, there are lots of relaxing options from the covered porch, outdoor breakfast table, rocking chairs, and firepit. And, don't forget the hot tub!

There are several marinas who rent by the hour or day. The Shady Pine is located 1.5 miles from Browns Ford boat ramp. Plenty of parking and trailer storage.

We have two, adult-size KAYAKS for your use during boating season (April 15-Oct 15). We will also provide (2) adult-size life jackets, and oars.

**Please note: Our walkway to the cove is 120 steps down to the boardwalk that leads to the dock. May be difficult for small children or some older people to manage.

    Cove Conditions:
Please Note: Barren River Lake is at summer pool April 15-Oct 15. Our cove varies in depth during this time from 3' to 30' depending on how much rain we get and the Corp of Engineers. We are at the lower/fishing end of the lake, always good for kayaking during summer pool.

Our cove could be dry during Oct 15-March 15. But, still a great atmosphere and plenty of nature to explore.

    Husband’s Birthday
I booked this cabin for my husband’s 36th birthday weekend. I can’t give enough great reviews to this property. Everything was immaculate. There were so many little details that made it perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked. Everything you could possibly need was already there. The beds were super comfortable. There were plenty of towels and blankets. The downstairs was a great hang out area. The spacious deck was perfect for grilling out. When we needed something during the weekend, the running joke was “I bet the cabin already has it!” Melissa was an excellent host. She checked to make sure we made it and was easily accessible all weekend. We will definitely book again! This cabin is a gem close to home we didn’t know about.

    Mammoth cave spring break
Very cute, well stocked with plenty of activities to keep a group happy. Bedding and towels were very nice. Plenty of kitchen cookwear and dishes so you don’t have to run the dishwasher after every meal! Nice cabin atmosphere but you do have some neighbors that seem to be part time. Great rental!

    Wish We Had Longer
We stayed for a 4 day weekend and by then end of day 1 we all wished we were staying a full week. The property was as advertised and has everything you could need, all we needed was groceries. Communication was great and very responsive. The game room in the garage was so much fun and the hot tub was super relaxing. The Mammoth Cave area is about 45 minutes drive (if you like the small roads like us). We had fun at Dinosaur World, Kentucky Down Under and exploring caves and the area in general. My 8 year old has already voted to return - to the area and the house. This is definitely a place we would put in our VRBO 'return' list.

    Great cabin by the lake
Our family stayed for Thanksgiving week. Everything was as shown on website. Cabin was spotless and ready on time. Kitchen was completely stocked with everything you need to cook and eat. The coffee bar was nice in the adjacent dining room from the kitchen. The managers let us know there was an electric roaster in the pantry and we cooked our turkey in it. Our daughters were really impressed with the quality of the towels and bedding. We had 6 people and there was plenty of bedrooms. We played games and puzzles on the long dining room table. We played ping pong and air hockey in the basement. We even enjoyed a record on the turn table. (Had to explain the concept to the teens as they had not seen a record player) we even made ice cream. Beautiful views from great room and deck. Hot tub worked great as did the WiFi. Managers were wonderful, answered all our questions and provided great directions to the cabin. Was a fabulous stay and we wholeheartedly recommend. We hope to book here again. Maybe in spring/summer next time.

    The exceptional “Shady Pine”
Having stayed in many places around the country as well as the Caribbean, Central and South America, you have your ups and downs when scheduling a trip to an unknown place. Whether it’s location, the property itself, value/pricing, communication with owners, supplies on-hand or a combo of some/all of the aforementioned, some meet expectations while others fail. Rarely does one exceed on all fronts. We can’t express just how great “The Shady Pine” experience was. My wife and I - and our 17 and 10 year old boys - were looking for just a short 4 night/5 day getaway in a “fall setting”. Not having stayed in Kentucky or Tennessee or the surrounding area in many years, we thought the kids would enjoy this section of the country. TSP (“The Shady Pine”) popped up on our search and looked like a nice place. Little did we know it would not only be a beautiful home away from home, but it was in an ideal setting with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was furnished superbly with delicate taste, clean and stocked perfectly for our stay. Plenty of cookware, great WiFi (a must when so remote), a thoughtful welcome basket, great bedrooms, plenty of towels, etc. Even the coffee bar knocked our socks off; full complement of mugs, creamers and sweeteners (which were FACED by the way, talk about attention to detail). Bottom line, Melissa & Mary are great hosts, and you know they care. Highly recommend.
