we were never able to check in
When we got there the door was open but we couldn't get ahold of host for key. vrbo couldn't contact him either. Turned out host passed away last Sept. and the family didn't contact vrbo so my contract from 7 mon. ago wasn't cancelled. However it had been recently sold so realtor was adamant we not stay. (The sale sign was still in the front yard so we finally called her for key.) I spent 2.5 HOURS on phone with vrbo, mostly on hold, trying to figure out what to do. The vrbo contact was very hard to understand and he repeatedly said don't hang up, that he was going to talk to someone. It was night before eclipse and it took a lot of calling to finally find two motel rooms, and we had to pay twice the vrbo rate. We got to the house at 4:30 pm and didn't check into the motel till 9 pm Had to cancel evening plans.

Lovely home, in a quiet neighborhood
This is my ideal home. It was absolutely clean and well maintained. Kitchen had everything you needed to cook a meal. The bedrooms were a great size. Honestly it was one of the nicest homes we have ever stayed in, and I would do it again. The host was very responsive and incredibly considerate. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Only a minute to Kentucky Dam, which was a major plus. Plenty of parking in the drive way too, which was very convenient.
