The Orchid cottage was well equipped and very comfortable for our family of four. It was also a very short walk to the beach which was wonderful. The hosts were also lovely and very responsive.

Lovely cottage super close to the beach

We loved our stay in Eleuthera. The cottage had what we needed and was in a great location for us. We walked on the beach at the cottage every day, it was so beautiful. Tons of linens and towels! We could have used a couple more light bulbs, but we are familiar with island living. Watching netflix was awesome, despite the challenge figuring out how to connect to it. Overall a really lovely stay that we would definitely recommend.

Great location, super cottage!

Perfect location, short path to the beach and short 5 min drive to Governors Harbor. Cottage is really comfortable, 2 great bedrooms and an open living area. Owners are great as well, lots of communication prior to our arrival, so we felt like we knew all the basics before we got there.

A great vacation,

Because there was a group of us we used the Orchid Cottage mainly for sleeping and spent time at the Shangri-La. The cottage was light, airy, tastely decorated and self sufficient, The four of us could have stayed there quite comfortably. The property was beautiful and we liked that we could walk to the ocean. The location was ideal, a short drive to Governor's Harbour where we bought groceries, had lunches and dinners and visited the Haynes Library (est. 1897). We drove to both the southern and northern parts of the island exploring the beaches and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Checking in was a bit rough and we had a few issues with our car rental, but after that everything went smoothly. We had our own private beach, the cottage was clean and comfortable. All of the people on the island were very friendly and helpful. The change of pace and the peace on the island was definitely needed and appreciated. Most of the restaurants we went to were great. The food is expensive but of good quality. We enjoyed exploring everything Eleuthera had to offer. Renting a car so that you have full access to the island and checking out some of the wonderful foods trucks is a must!

The cottage is always top notch spotless when we arrive and we are greeted by the caretaker whom is a seasoned pro. It is located on Old Banks road, which in my mind is the best place to be as it is very quiet and steps away from pink sand beach. The cottage is very comfortable making it a pleasure to hang out and cook fresh caught fish, do some island crafting and enjoy a cocktail.Our three weeks was perfect, but never seems long enough. Until next tyme Island of Freedom. ❤️🇧🇸❤️

Cute, cozy, beach cottage...perfect for relaxing!

We just arrived home from staying at the Orchid Cottage for almost 2 weeks. It was a quiet, convenient location and it was perfect for the 4 of us. It was clean, comfortable and just what we expected from the descriptions and the pictures. We had some issues with the municipality having to work on hydro lines and water lines that caused some inconvenience with low water pressure and no electricity from time to time for the first few days, but the property managers were the best!! They were extremely helpful and responded to our questions and concerns immediately. The cottage has everything you need to have a great vacation. We'll probably be back for another stay.

Spent a great deal of time on the front porch curled up with a good book listening to the roar of the Atlantic. The beach and the swimming absolutely incredible! Old Banks road is the perfect pathway for a stroll to visit Pascal’s, the neighbourhood bar and grill where you will be welcomed like an old friend! We had a most wonderful time!

We were welcomed with a snack, water and cold Bahamian drinks. The cottage is a 2 minute walk to a beautiful beach that was basically private. The hosts provided beach chairs, towels, snorkeling gear and more! They were also extremely helpful with suggesting places to go, and answering all our questions. We also felt very safe as the cottage is located in a gated community. We had a great experience and would highly recommend. Thank you!

A well-maintained cottage with everything you could need for your stay. Set on corner of Old Banks Road and a gated road. Very little traffic and 100 yards for the ocean. Lachandra is an outstanding hostess. Also rented my car from Lachandra. The entire process was seamless. Is a great location on the island. About 4 miles north of Gov. Harbor. Just a short drive to 1648, Buccaneers, Tippys, The Deck, and gas station, grocery store, and liquor store. A perfect spot for those looking for a place to land at night and regroup for the next day.

The towels are excellent! The little details of dishes, drawer pulls, pillows, flamingo potholders .... everything shows such love and care put into this home. Working with Eleuthera Vacation Rentals is always easy and a pleasure. Quick response time and excellent service. We were just two people and Orchid Cottage met all of our needs. We can hardly wait to return to Eleuthera!

A perfect getaway

Close to the Ocean and GH, which has restaurants, grocery stores, gift shops, gas and more. And it's in the middle of the island so not far to go to beaches north or south. The property managers are the very best. They have become friends over the years. You will not find better owners. They truly want you to have the best experience during your stay. And will do everythingto remedy any concerns you may have during your stay.The cottage is clean and has everything you need formeals, sleeping and going to the beach. We continue to recommend the cottage to all our friends and family.

Adventure in Paradise

My husband and I had an amazing stay. There was a slight mix up upon our arrival and the house was not ready for us when we arrived, but Lachadra came over immediately to help and we were able to stay at the larger property next door for a night which was nice. Orchid Cottage was the perfect size for my husband and I and had all the necessary amenities. We spent our time exploring the island via the rental car provided. Someone met us at the airport with the car and it was extremely convenient and a quick process. We visited Preachers Cave, The Sapphire Blue Hole, The Queens Baths, and several beautiful beaches including Ten Bay which I highly recommend. Pascal’s Restaurant is a quick trip down the back dirt road adjacent to the house which was fun! The best part of the stay was the breathtaking private beach just a couple minutes walk from the house. Crystal clear water, the softest pink sand you’ve ever stepped foot on and awesome snorkeling. We only saw a couple people on the beach the whole week! The beach chairs, snorkeling gear and towels provided were very appreciated. My tips for those who visit Eleuthera for the first time would be explore the island!, bring bug spray (and wear it), and know that it is totally normal for the power to go off several times during your stay (it never lasts too long). Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We shall return

Perfect Eleuthera cottage!

A quick note about this review - it is based on expectations according to the property listing and information provided by the owner. I am not comparing to other properties or my version of the 'ideal' vacation home. I have to start with the rental process, which was simple and pleasant as always when working through Eleuthera Vacation Rentals. Matt, Juliana, and Tara are the best and represent a fantastic collection of properties. They are professional, friendly, responsive, and so helpful. We had the pleasure of meeting Matt on this trip and he is such a great guy! The whole team is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to planning our trip with them every year. The owner of Orchid Cottage, Shawna, was also great to work with. She provided lots of useful information about the cottage before we left and kept in contact during our trip. I had a few questions after settling into the cottage and Shawna responded immediately. Shawna also made one of the best suggestions ever during this trip - to arrange through the caretakers, Barry and Lachadra, to have an authentic Bahamian dinner prepared just for us (so delicious and a highlight for sure!). Speaking of Barry and Lachadra, they are super nice people. Lachadra welcomed us to the cottage with a big smile and hugs in that special Eleuthera way! They made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage was just the right size for my wife, teen daughter and me. It is not new, but was clean and fresh, and has that special something that only comes from age...lots of character. My wife is an interior designer, so aesthetics come into play when we are choosing a place to stay. Orchid Cottage is bright and cheery with comfortable furnishings and tasteful decorations. The bedrooms have air conditioners, which we used a few times at night, but otherwise the cottage catches a steady breeze during the day with windows open (we also had perfect weather during our stay, so that helped, I'm sure). The loft area is a storage space and not really usable by guests, but my daughter still wanted to hang out up there! I only mention that because I don't think it is obvious from the pictures or description. The beautiful beach is so close and it was nice not to have to pack up and drive every time we wanted our toes in the sand. Oh yeah, almost forgot...great front porch. Loved listening to the palm trees in the breeze. Orchid Cottage was just what we hoped it would be - already planning our next visit!
