Overall we had a good vacation, but there were issues that we should not have dealt with.
1) The cleaniness of the property upon arrival was not not acceptable. The shower drain was full of hair,the A/C filter was clogged and desperately needed to be changed. I spent over an hour cleaning the barbeque because it was digustingly dirty.
2) Landscaping. There were areas of the property that needed to be weeded (it was done the day before we left). There were weeds growing through the paved areas by the pool. There were a number of broken,sinking and raised paveing blocks around the pool. My grandchild stubbed her toe on one of them
3)While barbecuing, the propane tank ran out of gas, at 7PM. I drove around for a hour looking for to replace the tank, but the stores were either closed or had none. I had $50-$60 worth of meat on the barbeque that was uncooked and had to discard.Why not have a second full tank on premise? I could have changed the tanks and made sure I filled the empty one before I left.
4) The stove oven element boke 7/21 and although there were attemps to repair it,the part had to be ordered.I left on 7/28 and it was still not repaired. So 7-8 days without use of the oven.
5) There was no pool skimmer and we were unable to skim the pool of daily debris. The one on site was broken by the previous renter and never replaced.
6) There is a bar directly across from the property and the music on weekends was loud and distracting. On one occasion , we were woken up at 2 AM to find someone passed out on the lawn. We notified the police.
7) We were unable to open windows at night due to ripped screens on windows.
Whenever we rent a home, there should be certain expectations on that property. We paid a substantial amount for the 2 weeks, over $12,000, and the property did not meet those expectations.
Why isn't the property inspected after each visit?
We pay over $200 for cleaning, why wasnt it done properly?
We rented the premise for 2 weeks no second refrigerator? No ice maker on exisitng one? I had 10 family members staying with us and it was diffult to store food with only 1 refrigrator.The premise definitely needs to be upgraded.
I therefore have disputed the final payment with my credit card company, and would expcet a partial refund for all the inconveiances and disruptions while on vacation.
