「Quaint location in an historical building. Some uneven floorboards and doors would get stuck, but that’s to be expected ina building several hundred years old.」

「The room was the dirtiest room i have ever stayed in. Didn't go into my room till midnight or would have asked for a different room . Waited to see someone when i handed the keys but no-one came .the staff were lovely some of the food was nice 」

「On arrival the radiator wasnt working so the lovely host moved rooms and couldnt do enough to make sure i was ok. Then threw in a couple of free beers. The staff working literally couldnt do enough to help」

「We were welcomed by Julie the owner on arrival, who explained how things worked in the cottage and passed on a lot of local information. We have stayed in a lot of properties and this is one of the best. Comfortable, well equipped, immaculately clean and a most generous welcome pack.. We are looking forward to our next stay.」

「Staff excellent. Setting beautiful. We stayed in the old house which had real charm, but was a little tired. Beyond the historic house is a conference centre, with spa. We ate an evening meal in the 1744 restaurant which was well priced and very tasty. 」

「Very spacious well equipped cottage situated just off the main street of Barnard Castle right by the parish church. We were able to check in early, which was a big help, and when we arrived we delighted to see how spotlessly clean it was. The beds and furnishing were comfortable and would have no hesitation in reccommending the cottage to our friends and family」

「Clean spacious room. Staff very friendly. Shower room and decor in general could do with update. But all in all value for money. 」

「Lovely property, near to the town centre. However, there was no phone signal for O2 or Vodaphone. There is a landline insitu for emergencies. The cars, vans etc go right past the windows, so there was a fair bit of road noise in the lounge / kitchen dining area. The bedroom was nice and quiet though. 」

「Very pleasant and helpful staff. The drainage of the shower was bad. The breakfast was good. 」

「We went for a family stay and it did not disappoint! Warm cosy and we were welcomed with fresh bread and treats left for us. Karen came down to check everything was ok. They also cleared snow from the awning over the hot tub! Great hosts this is are 2nd visit as a family 」
