“We loved our stay at Kandy Shady Trees thanks to the very welcoming and accommodating nature of our hosts. The room we stayed in was large and very comfortable and breakfast was fresh and substantial. The location is up a steep hill (we took a tuk tuk up and down it) but could be walked. Views from the property were great and it was in close proximity to central Kandy and many worth visiting sites. Our host also accommodated us by driving us to local sites for a very reasonable fee. “This place is truly a hidden gem, and the staff is absolutely incredible! It should be on everyone’s list when visiting Sri Lanka. The owner is wonderful; she invited my friend and me for tea, picked us up in her SUV since our tuk-tuk couldn't make it up the hill due to an earlier accident, and welcomed us warmly despite our late check-in. “Our family of 5 arrived at the villa at 630pm tired and hoping for a good night rest. Pressed the bell and knocked on the door before someone came down from the villa. Realised they werent aware there is a booking for the night's stay! We had to wait for a good one hour before that poor caretaker sort out the stay wt the owner for our booking and then cleaned the rooms. No service recovery and no apologies by the owner at all. Utterly disappointed! ”
