"This is less a hotel, and more rooms above (a very good real ale) pub, which was one on the reasons we took a punt on the place, and we weren’t disappointed. Very good value for money, we had a standard room which was a decent size and a good en suite. Housekeeping was really good every day. Well situated just off the main drag, less than 10 mins walk from station and pretty much everywhere in Shrewsbury. It may not be to everyone’s taste, it’s a very old building and there isn’t any lift access, and beware if you are a light sleeper as every noise and bump can be heard so take some ear plugs 😀 Also, a bit lacking in storage space. But there’s always a bit of give and take when ‘character’ is involved. They don’t do breakfast- which we knew in advance and didn’t eat there, but the ale is great! And you get 10% off if you’re staying. Would definitely recommend."

"Think Faulty Towers and you won’t be disappointed. The reception staff run the bar and everything- absolutely lovely. However, keys given to other guests ( walking in whilst a guest was in bed- totally unacceptable) No working radiators, yet showers scolding hot, freezing cold rooms - used towels for extra warmth, rooms offered to our elderly party down the metal fire escape stairwell - we refused, no working lift. For the price we paid - it’s reflected in facilities. Spotless rooms and lovely staff that tried hard. "

"Good value for a hotel within easy walking distance of the city centre. Quite a spacious room, but no drawers or cupboards. Some rooms face the ring road but ear plugs get rid of the traffic noise."

"The lift was out of use which was not ideal. My guest struggles to walk after smashing her ankle last May and we were on the top floor. The receptionist did move us to floor two but we arrived Friday and left Sunday - but the lift was still out of order. The rooms were clean. And breakfast was good. "
