"This was our first time staying in an onsen hotel. The property is loaded with amenities: an on-site hot and cold water onsen, a lounge with 24 hours of free drinks, a happy hour with wine included. Our room was gorgeous, with tatami mat floors and comfortable beds they set up. We had a glass wall shower and views of Lake Biwaka. My only criticism is that some of the furnishings seem a bit dated. But everything else was spectacular."

"They offered free shuttle service to the nearest JR stations. Nice quiet area for a hot spring vacation. Breakfast and dinner were included in our package, and the food was fabulous and very authentic. It was my second time returning Yumotokan, and everything had been maintained up to standard or even better. Highly recommended!"

"If you've stayed in one Tokoyo Inn, you've pretty much stayed in them all. This one hasn't seen some of the upgrades that busier locations have, but it's very clean and practically inside the train station."

"Overall it is really an excellent hotel. Many of the rooms should be updated, but still they are adequate and spacious. The breakfast area can be busy, but there is a large adjacent room with plenty of space. The hotel staff were great. The onsen has a spacious indoor bath and plenty of washing areas. The outdoor bath is very pleasant, just be careful walking on the stone surfaces. The staff takes good care of the onsen and sauna. The location is good. You can walk to Nagahama JR station and the old town area is just beyond. The lake and the large beautiful next door park and castle is good for walking. There are not many restaurants open at night in central Nagahama, but you can probably find something."

"I could not recommend this hotel enough if you intend to stay in the Hikone area. The hotel itself is surprisingly luxurious with great amenities and service. It's right outside of the Hikone castle area and you can get a great view of the castle and the surrounding areas basically at all times. It's also right near the Yumek"
