“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful.”

“Colonial Inn is always a launching point for our OBX trip. They are affordable and convenient for a Friday night stay on the way further south for a following week. We appreciate that they don’t require a 2 night stay and use them regularly as a result.”

“The room was bare ones, yet clean. What I didn't like was that the windows didn't open so you couldnt get fresh beach air through the room. ”

“Disappointed. The property needs a little TLC. Abandoned flower pots greet you at the front entrance along with overgrown trees overlooking the water. The room was clean and comfortable, especially the Tempur-pedic mattress. The toilet runs for 20 minutes each time you use it. Nothing has been upgraded in many years but if you are looking for a quiet place to read a book on the porch, this is the place. It would have been nice to smell coffee brewing in the dining room but not available. Just……

“They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

“This is our second year staying at this hotel. It’s super clean, the staff is very friendly, the beds are comfortable, great water pressure in the shower also. The indoor pool is a great amenity! We will totally be back!”

“It was very interesting. It’s a big house with different rooms. We all share the kitchen, living room, laundry room, pool and deck area. Overall it was pretty good. One thing that did irritated go get it brought our dog and all you can hear is another dog barking 85% of the time.!”
