"Staff was curious, room was clean though we had to kill small lizard which had crawed a cross our bed. Our only issue was the bed. It was old and huut our back after being there for only 2 days. The other issue is location. This hotel is off the beaten path. The cab driver had a hard time finding it initially. Took us 20 - 25 minutes to get to the ⛱ beach. Great price but the location to the beach a concern. "

"The room was perfect for one. Clean and issues I had were promptly addressed. (They were minor) I love dogs , so the dogs on property were nice. All very friendly. Very quiet area with food in walking distance. You WILL need a car though if you plan on exploring other areas of the island. "

"My husband & I booked a 29 stay at Vistalmar in Jan. 2026. We conversed thru WhatsApp with the owner and thought we had a good idea of what to expect. She gave us good information about getting around on the island and accessing the property. The rooms were large & clean.The grounds are beautiful & the pools were clean. The problems were 2 fold. 1st- there is no beach. Images posted by the owner on VRBO are misleading making the waterfront area seem a private oasis when in actuality the water is not at all inviting & there is no place to put a chair on the sand. The dock area is OK although it needs some repair work. There is a very large, ugly, deserted boat blocking a good bit of the view of the water. The actual Mangel Halto Beach is quite a bit further south & not walkable. As suggested, you must rent a car or expect long walks followed by bus rides or expensive cabs. We had hoped to only rent a car part of the time but ended up with one the full trip.The second, most disturbing issue is the dog problem. My husband & I love dogs. If you do not, stop now and do not even consider this property. Despite what is advertised, there were eight, yes 8 dogs on the property the day we arrived. They are friendly & smart.They are also bored with nothing better to do than chase cars & bikes & bark & BARK. In the morning & several times thru the night. BARK BARK! I suggest the owner take the dogs to her home, remove the water & food bowls so she can have them keep her up all night."

"The place was very clean. The location was perfect, exactly what we wanted. We were there for 10 days. We LOVED the place, but it's not really set up for longer stays like this. It needs some better cookware; even with cooking oil & butter, EVERYTHING burned in the pans as they were not nonstick. With a 10 day stay, it would have been nice to have had some bleach spray & a broom or mop to clean up a bit for ourselves halfway through. They did bring us fresh towels & sheets, but that's a long time to go without the floors being swept. We would have been happy to do it ourselves if we had the broom or mop. It's also not a great long-term place to stay if you want to cook any meals yourself. There were a few pots & pans but only a microwave & cooktop. It could really use a toaster oven too. We never used the pool because the filter wasn't working & there was no skimmer. My wife refused to get in because it had a lot of stuff (including a dead frog) floating on top. The views out the back were amazing! Lot's of nature, quiet & private. We would walk down to the ocean every morning; around 2.7 miles round trip. We asked for a coffee pot & some chairs for the beach & they got us some. I am listing all the pro's & con's but I want to be clear, the hosts were SUPER nice people, & we really loved the place. With a bit better setup in the kitchen & a few minor cleaning supplies & a pool skimmer, we'd definitely rent it again next year for a full month. Thanks for a great stay!"
