“Brilliant place to stay as a family, very clean and lovely place to stay, location by a private farm in the sticks you’re surrounded by grass, views, water and horses it’s beautiful. Great size accommodation and with modern kitchen and bathroom making staying here great. Located close to mainly areas, Beamish, Newcastle, Durham etc. Can’t recommend this place enough a lovely cozy warm stay.”

“Lovely place, great location on the high street. Private, off street parking is very helpful - the entrance to it is through a very narrow archway which was a tight squeeze for an SUV. The property itself is well kept & equipped. Very clean and nicely furnished. Communication from the owner by text on the day with all the check in info was very helpful.”

“At the last minute (day before) my accommodation was cancelled & I was given 2 alternative options, given the lateness I opted for one, it was good, but the instructions to enter underground car park & accommodation was extremely very poor, resulting in me getting very stressed & having to phone the letting agent, wasn't happy at all, they apologised & said they'd get back to me, after they read the instructions of an email I got, still awaiting their reply. Disappointed”

“I think the place is great. It just neds a few slight updates. Privacy window/curtains in living room, moss to be cleaned in garden and mould and mildew in bathroom. I know I being rather picky, but it such a great place those things just let it down. I would definitely stay again”

“Very well equipped accommodation. Great base for exploring the area. Beamish museum very close and well worth a visit. Also close enough to visit Newcastle, can get metro so don't have to drive in, Hadrians wall, Derwent water. Lot of places to visit. Good location if doing Great North Run.”

“Spotless apartment, very large double bed incredibly comfortable, pre arrival communication and information excellent, everything we needed for a 4 night stay. We were in apartment 4 on the second floor, no views but we knew that when we booked, right on the seafront. If we are that way again would definitely stay again.”

“Beautiful house, super clean with all the amenities you could wish for. There is no WiFi however. The host said there was internet through the telly but there wasn’t and he then stopped communicating whilst we were trying to sort it out.”

“A lovely stay”

“The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little……

“Lovely period hotel with good decor and clean throughout; staff also friendly and helpful. Only minor gripes were noisy creaking floorboards in room above and inability to get on the Wi-Fi. Gave a low ecofriendly score as unable to reduce room temperature (other than opening a window) and shower gel and shampoo in individual disposable bottles. Great place to stay though :-)”
