Excellent floor plan in this three bedroom log home with wrap around porch. Clean and comfortable. Including the mattresses were very comfortable for a good night sleep after a long day of hiking. Whirlpool was clean and a great additive for relaxation. There was a couple neighborhood beagles that greeted us daily. They were not obnoxious, in fact, we looked forward to seeing them when we came back to the cabin. Thank you host for a great, uneventful stay!
The cabin was decorated to perfection. We made great memories there playing board games and petting all the animals that came up. Only disappointing part was that the fireplace didnt work. It got pretty cold inside.
We had a great time! Children will love the bear themed room and extra play area. Check in and check out was easy. However, be sure to double check location on a map as geopin wasn’t accurate. Will definitely be back.
Had a great time, fire place didn't work but did have space heaters. The beds are very high, not good for small or short people. Could use a step or step stroll. Not secluded as we would have liked, next to a farm with alot of dogs. Over all nice place and had a great

Not the best not the worst
Check in was easy and location decent distance from hiking trails but there was no thermostat, just space heaters, for a very large wood floor space in the dead of winter. There was no comfortable seating and the hot tub was cloudy leaving one of our guests with a bacterial skin infection from it.
The house itself was perfect. It was very clean and had everything we needed. However, the heat needs addressed. I realize maybe not a lot of people visit the area in the winter, but for those who do, it needs to be known that the house is heated only by the gas fireplace, a couple of space heaters, and a couple of window units. In the middle of the night on the first night, the carbon monoxide detector went off - which prompted us to turn off the fireplace. The next day, we could not get the fireplace to stay lit. Luckily, there was a portable space heater upstairs that we brought downstairs. The second night, our bedroom unit stopped working. The temp in the house the next morning was 56 degrees. The big bathroom downstairs has no heat at all - be sure to leave the door open when it’s not in use. We also had an issue with check in. We arrived at our check in time of 4pm and housekeeping was still there. They remained at the house until almost 5pm because they had drained the hot tub and needed to stay until it was filled. Needless to say, the hot tub was unusable the entire first night - it took until the next morning for it to heat up. Then, once we got in, there was a slimy film all along the seats. It was frustrating that we booked this house weeks in advance and it still was not ready when we got there. The house was in a very rural area and it was at least 25-35 minutes away from any store or restaurant - just a heads up on that.
We had an amazing stay and everything was a delight. We were not as close to the hiking trails we wanted but the drive wasn’t far. Amenities were on point but there was no Keurig during our stay so we tore some pods open for the regular coffee maker.
Great stay! We utilized the hot tub and fire pit. House was clean other than some dead bugs which is to be expected this time of the year in rural America. Property is quiet and private. We were visited by neighbors dogs, which my kids loved! This was an excellent choice for our family of 5 to visit RRG area!
We were working out of town and wanted somewhere to relax and unwind after a long day of work. This cabin was the perfect place with great amenities, clean and comfortable. I read the previous reviews but it was better than I expected. I would definitely book this place again.
This place is everything advertised, everything works, and I'm extremely pleased. It's going to be our new family getaway spot. You do need to plan for one thing. The nearest real grocery store is the IGA West Liberty, about 20 minutes. And that's not even bad, because hey, we're trying to getaway from the city right? It just takes some forethought.
Great experience at HazelBrook Haven! Perfect combination of feeling like we were out in the middle of nowhere and yet within a reasonable drive of civilization! We enjoyed relaxing in the very comfortable cabin in the evenings after we explored Red River Gorge/Daniel Boone National Forest during the days. My 3 teens and I found the property to have everything we wanted and needed - plenty of seating to relax, cozy beds, a hot tub to relax in, plenty of room in the kitchen to make our meals, huge wrap around porch to take in the view, and dining tables both inside and out for family meals and playing games! Highly recommend HazelBrook Haven!!

Rustic, off the beaten path
Great facility but a couple quirks. It def was rustic which is as okay but the dog barking during the night was a bit annoying. Had to get hot water fixed. Had to fix hot tub. Not super clean. Had to battle with fruit flies. We did however love the wrap around porch, corn hole game, cabin feel, and eventually the hot tub. Drive about 25-30 min to each hiking trailhead.
It was as peaceful, and quiet. The only thing was is I never got info on how to get into the house once I arrived. Their ring doorbell was the life saver because the owner answered and gave us the combo. Other than that it was a great place to stay!!
We walked in to the cabin around 6pm. It was freezing inside due to only one heater being on. Once all heaters were on, we decided to get in the hot tub while everything inside warmed up. The hot tub kept gradually losing heat over the course of a few hours. We checked it the next day and it would never get hot again.
We stayed for two nights, it was overall a nice place but there are some not lovely quirks. The mouse stayed hidden but left lots of poop on the beds, counters in bathroom and kitchen, and shredded toilet paper on the bathroom floors. There were also ants in the hottub and on the kitchen counters. The neighbor dogs peeing on my car and coming up to the porch( even with the gates closed) was not the best. They are nice dogs but its a bit much and these are all things that keep this place from being 5 stars…its a very cute and roomy place to stay, just a few things i dont want to deal with while on vacation.
