I had initially booked the location for 30 days, but was unable to stay for the entire booking due to pest issues. The apartment was easy to check into. And the actual apartment itself was located in an apartment community in Seabrook with onsite management and maintenance.My problem with the booking is that the apartment had cockroaches, LOTS of cockroaches. I have videos of the cockroaches in the microwave and on the walls. They were crawling in the closet, the kitchen cupboards, the bathroom walls, the ceiling, in the living room, and IN MY BED. When I attempted to address this with the online Host they referred me to the onsite management. The onsite management declined to offer any immediate solutions; instead, they stated that they could put me on a list for a pest control company to come in and spray the following WEEK. There is NO AMOUNT of cockroaches that are "acceptable" in a vacation rental, and it is certainly not acceptable to have cockroaches in my bed when I am sleeping. The Host initially refused to refund any of my money. However, I contacted VRBO and sent them the videos and pictures of the insect infestation, and they negotiated with the Host for a refund on my behalf. After agreeing to refund me for the unused nights, the Host generated a new invoice, charging me a higher rate per night for the apartment, and only provided me with a partial refund. I am currently disputing this fraudulent billing with my credit card company.
