From the first step into reception, speaking to the friendly and welcoming receptionist (we think her name was Helen) you immediately felt at ease. The lodge was very clean, a good size, well equipped and the hot tub, which was checked daily, was a lovely addition. The site, which is kept impeccably, is in an ideal location for touring around. Having access to the Pennine Trail but also a secluded woodland walk around the boundary of the site was ideal for a quick walk, which I thought was an excellent use of the land and constructed in such a way that you don't intrude on other people staying there whilst walking your dog. There is a pub to the side of the site where we dined a few times and the food was excellent. There is also a garden centre to the other side. This is a lovely, friendly, well kept peaceful site. I have given four stars for facilities as this isn't a site where there is lots to do, in my opinion if it did have more it would spoil the serenity of it, so it is perfect for what I wanted. We went exploring during the week and chilled out late afternoons playing cards, using the jacuzzi and watching the sun go down over the trees, total relaxation holiday.
