"We had booked a weekend stay but didn’t check in until about 11pm on the first night. Got to our room which was quite spacious but as soon as we opened the bathroom door, the smell of mould was extremely overwhelming. There was a window that couldn’t be opened and mould spores all over the ceiling and around the shower. Turning the tap on only made the smell worse and the only way to keep the smell contained was to keep the door closed. We had requested another room the next day but this wasn’t accommodated due to the hotel being fully booked, but someone was sent to the room to do a temporary ‘freshen up’ which didn’t last long before the smell of mould reappeared. We finally managed to get a new room the next day which was alot smaller but the bathroom was fine, although as soon as you step out of the lift on the 7th floor, again there was an overwhelming smell of mould. Overall, the lobby to the hotel is gorgeous but the rooms, corridors and carpets need some serious TLC. Wouldn’t stay here again until the current issues are addressed."

"I booked suite room 251 and unfortunately the air conditioning in the bedroom wasn’t working. This meant I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. There was a fan but no air conditioning. I mentioned this to reception in the morning and they assured me they were aware and that’s why there was a fan. However when I checked in reception hadn’t mentioned this issue. If they had I would have asked for a smaller room with working air conditioning. This wasn’t great service."

"Redwing was v clean and the staff v helpful. However, it was advertised as having a snooker table and games in a have room but there was only a fruit machine. Also the air conditioning in the bar/dining area didn't work. Although there was a bar with gin, there was no tonic!!! It was an extremely hot week and the bedrooms were very hot but the fans provided did little to help.1 of the beds in the twin room really needs a new mattress as it was completely sunken in the middle and I would suggest taking an extension lead as there is a huge lack of electric points, with none near the beds. There are however lots of things close by and I would highly recommend Hamerton Zoo."

"I liked our room it was large had every facility you could need available in it, the bathroom had a bath and shower and was so clean it glistned as was the main room. The meal at our function was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The pub attacked next to the hotel was lovely We sat. In the garden at the back it was so relaxing, ... , The choices at breakfast were excellent it was self service the food was piping hot and cooked to perfection. Finaly my rating for the Spa and pool I could have stayed there all weekend everything you need to relax is there and it is not over crowded. All in all I think Orton Hall is a wonderful place to stay."
