“If you’re looking for an authentic tatami mat stay with easy access to great food and local experiences - and don’t mind sharing a bathroom with other guests - we highly recommend this place! “First of all, you must be charmed by the decoration and personality on display at Koke-Musu-inn. The place is alive with character. Then the staff welcomes you with their own charm and the package is complete. I found the care taken to provide a comfortable stay very impressive. The rooms were clean and well-maintained throughout my stay, and the location was great! I was glad to have found an easily accessible stopping point outside of Kyoto city. “I thought the gorilla theme was really cute and liked the shared space dorm feeling. Some guests were cheerful and not especially quiet but once it got late it was quiet and we slept well. It actually felt festive and pleasant. The bath facilities were clean. There could have been more garbage bins as they got full quickly and it became difficult to separate. The space had a good feeling and it was comfortable to sleep on futons even as a family. There's not much privacy so it might not be great……

“Really nice clean ryokan in a quiet part of the neighbourhood. Has everything you need. Walking distance to restaurants and the train station. It was great to experience this style of accommodation. Felt like we were really immersed in the local area and very different to the hotel experience. ”

“Great place to stay! There are no staff on site but the owners were super responsive even when we asked to check in early! It’s a great location to the train station and the gyoza place at the end of the street is incredible! Also laundry is very close! Will definitely stay here again next time we stay in Kyoto! ”
