A very nice place to stay

This house is lovely with the most inviting front porch! I spent way too much time out there watching wildlife - a fox, a bear and lots of deer. The house is decorated beautifully. I stayed there two weeks while my house was being painted and it had everything I needed for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. The bed in the primary bedroom was so comfortable that I actually peeked to see what kind of mattress it was! I was by myself for this stay, so I didn’t utilize everything that was there, like the upstairs bedroom, downstairs bedroom, game room and hot tub, but what I did use was just great!

Beautiful mountain retreat

Cozy home in Big Canoe. Very comfortable and functional. Tastefully decorated and well stocked kitchen. Nice hot tub, outdoor grilling area and great front porch. Located on a quiet street, but in a community with lots of amenities. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great place for a small family

Slept like babies. TONS of sitting areas and I have to say the pictures really don’t do this adorable home justice. Plenty of soft, large towels for the hot tub, and I LOVED the bed pillows! I’ve already ordered some to have at home since my neck has never felt better. The welcome basket gave my daughter some little snacks to enjoy, while I enjoyed the wine and ginger ale. Thx for all the little extras and the attention to detail!!

Lovely home but….

The home and its amenities are wonderful! The area is replete with hiking trails, well maintained roads and exceptional security. We liked it very much. The hot tub was great! We were, unfortunately, not able to use the fire pit or the fireplace (broken knob on pit control), when called vacasa, I was told it was not included . False advertisement!? And the instructions on the fireplace were not clear. Is it wood burning fireplace ? Or a log?( that uses gas?) therefore we could not use either and it was very disappointing. Both bathroom fans are not working properly, which must be replaced. Also, we were given 1 dishwasher pod and 1 laundry pod. There should be notification to the customer to bring their own. Vacasa Company should at least provide for many days of stay. Simple! I was kind enough to run the dishwasher when we checked out. All these complaints are our reaction to how poorly Vacasa maintains the aforementioned things. And when we needed the tow truck for my son’s car. Vacasa took 30 mins to message the gate(I was on hold on the phone, and not to mention, I called 2 hours before that to grant the tow truck access) we never received any communication from them to confirm that they got the message. It was all after the fact. I even asked for Vacasa supervisor and they said they have none. It’s important to the homeowner and us to recognize these problems. It’s too beautiful of experience to allow Vacasa to lessen it. I booked thru VRBO.

Big Canoep

Although some renovations it is an older property with an assortment of older furnishings. Lots of sitting areas and well equipped kitchen. The yard/dog area was in need of maintenance which was done at our request. Unfortunately it rained most of the first week and then the hurricane came but not the rental’s fault. The clubhouse is closed for renovations for a year and the pools closed Labor Day limiting dining choices. Overall we like Big Canoe and Vacasa were good to work with. Daythrough

We saw a bears!!!

Big Canoe is an amazing place in the North Georgia Mountains. The house was great with plenty of amenities. Think glamping but in a private resort with a hot tub and Wi-Fi, and no light noise or annoying teenagers who use words like "glamping", "me-time", "FOMO" and "JOMO".

Our experience

I feel/hope our experience was a once off and will be corrected for future guests. I’ll start by saying the cabin itself is lovely. When we arrived, the main level did not appear to be vacuumed, there was dog feces on the back deck, trash still on the floor in the game room as well as game pieces everywhere and dead roaches. When we went to cook dinner that evening nearly every dish we pulled out was dirty. Cooking utensils had old crusted on food stuck to them, crumbs and grease at the bottoms of the pots/pans, the large metal pan had caked on grease with food in it. Plates had old food on them, Silverware had food stuck to them. Prior to cooking I hand washed all dirty dishes then emptied the rest into the dishwasher and washed everything. There are also no grilling utensils and no measuring cup for liquids. There was also a load of still wet towels in the dryer. I rewashed those as well. Another issue is the back deck/yard. It is beyond dark outside after 9pm that it’s honestly a hazard. After the first night my kids didn’t even want to use the hot tub anymore because my 7 year old was adamant she couldn’t see the stairs and was going to fall. I also, not being able to see my hand in front of my face did not want to go out after dark. This, to me is not pet friendly at all as advertised, which makes sense as to why there was dog feces on the deck. Dogs are not nocturnal. They do not want to walk down stairs they can’t see and aren’t familiar with into a dark yard they also

Quiet mountain top retreat

The amenities of the resort are impressive and the house itself is quiet and dog friendly . There is a cool breeze at the house even when it is hot and muggy in town. The kitchen is well equipped but you need to bring your own cooking essentials like spices, oil etc in addition to your food. The Big Canoe resort requires a short drive for every attraction including Wellness Center, Walking Trails, Pool, Golf, restaurants. It is not a walking community.

Family Vacation

This trip offered us everything we needed: relaxation, exploration, nature hikes, fishing, family time and it was dog-friendly, an added bonus! Our cabin was welcoming, cozy and clean. The hot tub was a hit after hiking all day and playing card games by fireplace were the perfect way to end the day.

Great house

The house was clean and the ere very responsive with any problems we had. Everything was great except they expect you to take your own yeah 9 mins to the north gate trash place. Which I never did find even after asking the north gate attendant. Everything else was great. They also have a do not enter sign on the room with the pool table. If you don't want guest in there then don't list it as amenity.

Quiet Getaway!

Our family (including two doxies) had a great trip to this wonderful cabin in Big Canoe. The house was set up perfect for our small dogs with a latched backyard. The house itself was beautiful and spacious. Our daughter had her own bed and bath downstairs and we enjoyed the Master bed and bath. (Recommend a footstool for the master bed. We’re both tall but it was a TALL bed!). Lots of areas for sitting and looking out of the windows on the main level and upper loft. It was too cold for the hot tub and porches this time but they were nice. Easy check in and checkout as well as traveling in and out with gate pass. Suggest adding a few more basic items in the kitchen such as sugar, etc. for the coffee machine. We enjoyed our stay and the beautiful Georgia mountain areas!
