Just across the road to from Thamel tourist area this hotel is peaceful with decent sized rooms, hot showers, peaceful courtyard, good breakfasts, espresso style coffees. Staff are helpful & friendly. Stayed here multiple times. April 2023

I had the pleasure of staying with Hotel Encounter 4 separate times in 2 1/2 weeks, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was excellent, the food was incredible, and the rooms are a nice safe-haven when you are so far from home. I am so appreciative. It was a lovely stay. I booked a standard room for one night. Upon check-in at the hotel, the administration upgraded it to a Deluxe room free of additional charges. The in-house restaurent was wonderful. Food was great. Room service was fast and excellent. I will definetly stay here next time I visit Kathmandu. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

The General Manager Mr. Mukunda Pokharel will quickly find you a good transport to airport or wherever you want to go in Nepal. The rooms are big by American and Thai standards. Bathrooms are big and clean. Beds are excellent big and firm exactly as we like our beds to be. Staff are super safe, friendly, funny, considerate, cheerful, discreet, helpful, and can get you any service or tour or info you can possibly need. Two big quiet gardens away from exciting busy hustle and bustle of Thamel neighborhood. Rooms are very clean. Staircase is excellent, wide, beautiful, clean all marble stone for easy fast carrying luggage and running to your free breakfast in the garden. The city of Kathmandu is currently doing a lot of road work, construction, city plumbing, so most hotels in the area temporarily (less than 1 minute) have a short blast of black or grey concrete coming from sink tap, toilet, just a few seconds, so don’t panic, it’s just the city water main lines being worked on. Some hotels also have water towers or cisterns atop their roofs to ensure you have lots of water 24/7, so dusty water for a moment might be normal. Clean water eventually comes out, you’ll be OK. Drink bottled water and use that for brushing your teeth and washing your face, you will be OK. Looking forward to our next vacation in Nepal. The cities are glorious fun chaos and dusty good fun: adventure pure and simple. Do try to escape the city for the mountains! Aloha :) Namaste!

The staff met me at the airport for US$15. They provided bus to get to my next stop and Chitwan National Park. Room was clean and relatively quiet. Very close to the bus station to Pokhara or Chitwan.

The location is pretty good - close to Thamel without being right in it. The room was fairly basic and could maybe do with a good renovation, but was comfortable and more than adequate for my needs. Overall, an enjoyable stay and very good value.

Hotels was very good value for money, not exceptional but everything you could want in a good location just across from the main tourist shopping area. Plenty of good places to eat nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful Good WiFi

Very crowded place and in a byline. Thou staff were cordial, the location of the hotel is bad. No lift in the hotel. Fridge connection was removed.

tres bon sejour personnel tres attentif a vos demandes toujours a votre ecoute .je tenais a remercier tout l encadrement pour leur hospitalite et leur devouement surtout lorsque ma femme s'est cassee les deux chevilles lors d'une visite d'un temple tout le staff a repondu present (appel de l'ambulance tranfert au meilleur hopital de katmandu accompagné par le patron afin que tout se deroule comme il faut) un tres tres grand merci tres bon salon de massage n'hesitez pas tres bon service pour les excursions enfin tres bonne nourriture(grill).encore un fres grand merci.

I stayed at this property for my first night in Kathmandu and couldn't have asked for better. I had arranged for their shuttle and the driver stayed even though my flight was delayed. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing. The view from the room was great and the service from the staff was wonderful. I had had my baggage delayed and reception helped me sort it out.

Central and quiet

Even if the hotel is situated at the north end of Thamel it is very quiet during the night. The manager and the staff are very very friendly and helpful. I recommend to take a room with gardenview. It's spacious and sunny in the morning. The bed was very comfortable and the shower worked very well. For breakfast you can choose a big variety from the menu and I was happy to find the Porridge there.
