"Hotel in lovely settings and outdoor gardens. Plenty parking no problems. Hotel was clean unfortunately it’s run down in areas chipped paint wallpaper ripped. Room was a good size and clean. Restaurant was nice and good menu. Breakfast was really nice. All staff friendly and helpful."

"Our suite was perfect for a 2 night stay. The facilities were excellent: swimming pool, sauna, table tennis, squash and fitness room. All set in lovely surroundings near Ballater. Really enjoyed a relaxing break"

"What should have been a special, long-overdue break turned into a complete disaster. My wife and I were evacuated in the middle of the night due to a gas leak—a genuinely frightening experience. We were abruptly forced out of the hotel with no proper reassurance or handling of the situation, which alone is unacceptable. We were offered “alternative accommodation,” but it did not have the same facilities or standard as what we had paid for. Given the circumstances and the time of night, we chose to make our own way home instead. This was our first time away since having our son, and the trip was completely ruined. To make matters worse, the hotel has refused any refund or compensation, despite the stay being cut short due to a serious safety issue entirely outside of our control. That response speaks volumes about how they treat their guests when something goes wrong. Safety concerns, a ruined stay, and zero accountability. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value basic duty of care and customer service."

"Room extremely dirty Shower tray was unclean with dirt at bottom Corners of toilet and rooms full of dust Radiators dusty Window sill and skirting had not been cleaned for months Moved to a different room- Spent at least 15 minutes getting the correct key from receptionist - eventually was given a master key since they could not get a key for the room one light in bathroom not working Smoke detector missing from roof Receptionist was pleasant and helpful but requires training Gentleman on duty told us the reason for the room not being cleaned was that the housekeeper was rushed to hospital the night before but that was not substantiated by other staff Another member of staff said that the person cleaning the room had only been in post for a month so he was bound to make mistakes! The gentleman also questioned,infront of other people, why I had bar glasses in my bag - very embarrassing! I explained that the girl behind the bar who was also the receptionist said to take the glasses with me up to the bedroom Dreadful experience overall"
