  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely windy week in Duck

We loved our week on the beach. The house was lovely, even though the weather was not. Beds were all comfortable, the house was clean. It was great to be able to have my little dogs along w us for a long snuggle through the chilly windy week. I do wish that the elevator in the house was available for use, as I found the stairs to be a challenge for my knees by the end of the week. I will need to prioritize that in future planning, but we loved the house and would love to visit again

Perfect Beach Getaway

This house exceeded my expectations, the pictures do not do it justice. It is a gorgeous property right on the beach. The open floor plan with a well stocked kitchen made relaxing and entertaining a pleasant experience. There are views of the ocean at each level and from any room. We had 13 people and never felt on top of each other. Thanks Shore OBX for helping fulfill one of my bucket list items. A house on the beach that would accommodate my family. We are planning our next stay at this property.

Wonderful stay! The house is right on the beach and only 2 miles from The center of Duck. The home was clean, well appointed and had plenty of space for our party of 7 with each bedroom having its own bathroom. The beds were incredibly comfortable. I know everyone comments on the elevator not working and that is inconvenient but not a dealbreaker. It would be nice if there were some sort of posts to help climb the sand dune back to the house from the beach. It would also be great if a WiFi extender were on the top floor. We spent a lot of time up there and the internet signal was weak with a few devices going. Sometimes we couldn't stream television due to the weak signal. All said, we had a fantastic time and are already looking forward to our next stay!

Good and bad… Good, location was awesome as well as the view, sunsets and sunrises. Hot tub great, decking and deck furniture very nice. Conveniently located near Duck. Bad, sauna and elevator didn't work. AC not cooling house. Dog hair balls all around outside deck. Sand spurs terrible out front. Kitchen stocked with old stuff, no stirring/serving spoons. Cracks in flooring and bathrooms need to be updated, Specifically master. My husband is 6'5 and shower stall and sink height made for small people. Found a bath mat hanging in a bathroom but when I opened it to use found dried dog poop in it!

Unbeatable views!!

Our group of nine adults had a wonderful week! The home has a great deck with amazing views and we took full advantage from sunrise to star gazing in the evenings. Even in the afternoon there was shade so we could maximize our time outside. The walkway to the beach leads to a sloped pathway that proved a little challenging for some in our party but we managed to climb the hill returning to the house. We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the credit for the beach gear as we chose a wagon which was helpful to haul our beach gear up the hill. We found the internet strength to be weak most of the time so if you need to be online you'll need to bring a hotspot. The top floor was a great space to gather and we made great use of the bar area near the deck. The kitchen is a bit dated and we found the cooking pans a bit lacking but manageable. Near the latter part of our stay the AC stopped. Property mgmt did their best to assist us. We found some of the bathrooms quite small for adults sharing but could be adequate if you are traveling with children.
