An authentic experience of Japan, this hotel exceeded all our expectations and was one of the highlights of our trip. The private onsen in our room was worth the extra money.

The room we booked had a great view of the mountain. Checkout time was early, 10am compared to many other hotels that we were used to. Couldn’t stay in room when they made the traditional Japanese bed. Overall, pleasant experience

Do not stay in suites 401,402,501,502 it is the worst experience I’ve had in 30 years of travel. The hotel owner also owns a 24 hour access gym located on floors 3 and 4. We had room 401 and the noise from gym music, and people often dropping weights made it impossible to sleep. The bed actually shook from the constant weight dropping. The owner also has apartments and gym showers on the suite floors which are also very noisy. We were given a phone number upon check in to call for any problems. After lying in bed for an hour I got up to call. The rooms don’t have phones. You have to use the staffed phone on the first floor. So I had to get dressed and when I went down there was no staff. So I had to walk outside cross a street and go to the main hotel. Staff offered to talk to the people in the gym and did (I was asked to join) which was a waste of time as people are constantly coming and going from the gym and music never stops. Back at the hotel (this has now been 30mins) I said I still needed a solution that would allow me to sleep. Management replied that all rooms were full. The process was very slow about 1.5 hrs total. I asked them to find and pay for a room at a different hotel. Each exchange was taken by staff to a manager somewhere while I waited for them to determine a reply. A room had ‘suddenly’ become available in a different building without a gym. My husband and I replaced our room and relocated around midnight. It was quiet.

Loved staying here! The room was fantastic and the staff lovely and helpful. The public and private baths are worth staying for here alone. Great location for exploring the surrounding area as close to the station and local sightseeing bus

This is a pretty basic ryokan with a view of Lake Kawaguchiko, but not of Mt. Fuji. The rooms are on the small side and the public onsen are really old/tired looking.

Very good ryokan resort. Nice staff. Everything was ready when we checked in. We stayed in traditional Japanese room with the view of lake Kawaguchico. Japanese set meals for dinner and breakfast were amazing. We had a good time there!

This was an amazing place to stay. We were only here for a night, but it was the most relaxing stay ever. The private onsen was amazing and there were so many special touches like matching pajamas, a goodie bag and breakfast included. We left very early so the staff gave us our breakfast the night before in a packed lunch and it was so lovely. We also got a massage and it was incredible. Staff were so kind and lovely. Would definitely stay here again, thanks so much <3

Wonderful property. True Japanese experience for my teenagers. Staff was wonderful. Restaurants in the area close early and coffee shops do not open until 9:00 am, so need to plan for that. Breakfast at hotel was wonderful and great variety of local cuisine.

disappointing, expensive, dirty needs a refurb
Very disappointing and aware that my views are different to others. I booked here as it said 'spa hotel' - important for me travelling alone if the weather is poor or if I need to adjust for jet lag - spa opens at 4pm, no use to me, meals are by appointment so evening was 6 or 6.30 so if I did want to use the spa it would not have been comfortable to then eat or eat and then spa not great either. Had I not booked with a spa I could have had a hotel much much cheaper than this - too expensive for what was promised and what was received. I had no idea that the meal service was so rigid. Japanese meals served which was fine - little tricky with such a large quantity in one meal and being served in the room was also not very pleasant as the room then smelled of food and I did not get any opportunity to mix with other guests - breakfast my seat was to face the wall, not into the room - so I moved it obviously. I am very aware of different customs/different country and a frequent traveller to Japan. Position of hotel was wonderful, on the lake, condition of the hotel was very aged - all worn, not very clean and Onsen very dirty with black mould, they really need to clean and update. I paid for 1 in a room for 4 so well over and above. Front desk not much help for tourists. Lounge area dark and uninviting with big signs saying 'no food' - it was the only place with a western chair so useful to me as my room did not have a comfortable space to sit.

Beautiful stay in gorgeous location.
Amazing location near Lake Kawaguchiko. Beautiful hotel, very spacious room and excellent service. Shuttle bus to Kawaguchiko station very convenient. Only negative was room was slightly dated and cleanliness could have been improved. There were some stains on tables and hairs in shower and on floor when we arrived. Overall, would recommend.
