We stayed in the family Villa #2, with our daughter. It was a nice place and we enjoyed the separate sleeping room front he family room and kitchen area. The location is fairly far from La Fortuna, which if you plan strategically, can be a real advantage for your stay. We ended up booking most of our activities around the hotel area, and only venturing into La Fortuna for one evening. We enjoyed the Hanging Bridges, LaRoca Canyoning, Sky Adventures, Arenal 1968 Trail, and had a wonderful time. I would say the views from our place were just ok, not the dramatic views that you see on their website. We had more of a jungle view than we did a Volcano view, though if you looked out the window in the right way, you could see it. The included breakfast was nice, though it was a drive to get there. No way to really walk there - it’s incredibly steep road that would be dangerous to be walking on at that time of day. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and everyone there was very nice and accommodating.

My stay at sangregado lodge was great. The room was beautiful. It was raining a lot but we still had an opportunity to see the volcano straight from our room. Staff was very attentive and nice. We didn’t rent a car but we had access to shuttles and taxis that could take us anywhere. I think id recommend getting a car though as it might be a bit more cost efficient, but overall either is doable. There’s a lot of winding roads and there are no restaurants on the property so we had to travel about 30 minutes by car to get good food. Mistico park is right across the parking lot from Sangregado lodge which was great and Pacos horses is nearby too if you want to go horseback riding!

I left my vacation 6 days early with no refund in sight due to the abundance of bugs inside my room such as beetles in my bed, multitudes of mosquitos in my room, spiders, you name it. The view is beautiful, there is one very nice man working there with good tips and info. The woman in the front of reception is not very helpful or nice. The shuttle to the restaurant off the property only runs once a day for free which they don’t tell you until the end and sometimes it comes early sometimes it’s 5-10 minutes late. The restaurant itself, the Blue Hibiscus was really good- would consider staying at the hotel connected to it instead of Sangregado. It was so far from the town itself too about 25-30 mins, nothing to do around expect Mistico which is cool for a day. ALSO- they’re doing construction and started at 7 am!! Finished at 5pm practically when the sun was setting- the crew used their tools and was banging up a storm super early. I hated my experience here and I would not recommend if you’re looking to relax and enjoy your money and time.

There was a lot of construction going on that we were unaware of during booking. Noise started at 8am and went throughout the day. We would have booked elsewhere if we need we would be in a construction area, for the price paid.

Loved the tree top view from our room. Free parking. Nice staff. Only draw back is that you are not near town and it’s a winding drive to get there. The free breakfast is at another hotel down the road.

The rooms are very clean and the view is amazing. Larry and staff go above and beyond for you and are helpful. Chris the server at breakfast is great , definitely recommend the chia pudding.

Wonderful hotel for the most part. The staff is so helpful. The rooms are modern and the views are spectacular. Convenient to activities. With that said, the only negatives are the lack of restaurant (breakfast served at the hotel down the road. They provide a shuttle and the food was delicious, but it was something you will need to account for with activity timing. We were upgraded to a big suite (12) but there was no closet (weird) or even a bar to hang clothes and no dresser so we lived out of our suitcases for 3 days. The other thing that was a bummer was the lack of hot water. The double shower was partially open air with a view of the volcano but with no hot water it was really unpleasant.

The staff was excellent especially Larry he help me and my wife out a lot. He went out his way to help us fix a flat tire we had on our rental car and gave us nice restaurant suggestions on La Fortuna. The room was clean and the atmosphere was amazing. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again.
