I will start with the best thing about this property, which was communication. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, with prompt and friendly emails to give us directions and keep us informed. Also, the location is fantastic and we usually stay somewhere on this island once every fall.
The house is spacious and provides all the basics for a weekend away, and the backyard firepit was fun to have. But if the devil is in the details, he has taken up residence here. When a listing says "dishwasher" and "TV," we tend to assume that the dishwasher works and that cable TV is available. Neither one of those is true here. There is a large smart TV in the living room, and IF you have your own subscription to Amazon Prime you can watch whatever is on Prime. Not optimal.
Not everything is cleaned after every guest. We took care of the coffee pot and the deck chairs ourselves. Trivial, perhaps, but nice to have clean when you go to use them.
Another highly frustrating aspect were the light switches. There are 14 light switches in the kitchen alone, and more in every room. What they do is anyone's guess. We never did figure out how to turn on the lights over the dining room table or in the master bedroom, and that wasn't for lack of trying. Going through the house with a label maker and labeling all the light switches would make the house so much more agreeable to visiting strangers.
It wasn't horrible. But given the price, it felt more like a Motel 8 than we would have liked.
