This place is fantastic. A truly independent pub. Superb home-cooked food. Good beer and wine. Excellent overnight accommodation. And wonderful all-round hospitality and service. Hats off to the landlord Jaz. Well worth the short detour from the South Downs Way.

Jazz was very welcoming and helpful especially to my husband who had difficulty getting up and down the extremely steep stairs.The room was well serviced and he served a good breakfast.

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night in order to visit Brighton but we didn’t wish to stay in Brighton. Jaz our host was so friendly, he also cooks which has to be the best Jamaican food I’ve ever tasted. Our room was spotless with an enormous bathroom and a marvellously powerful shower. Breakfast was a full English cooked to order absolutely perfect. I have no problem in recommending this as a great place to stay

I hadn't expected a cool reggae B&B with Jamaican menu choices for dinner alongside a full English breakfast before heading off the next morning. All very enjoyable and will definitely consider again.

We stayed in the hotel for one night in a visit to Glyndebourne. It is a nice pub The rooms were very clean and in very good condition. Good showers. The Full English breakfast was excellent ! We didn’t spend much time in the hotel but willl stay as again on our future visit to Glyndebourne next year.

This lovely old pub in the heart of in the Sussex countryside is cosy and welcoming. It's a hotel/inn, pub, and Jamaican-focused restaurant all rolled into one. The welcome was as warm as the Caribbean from hosts Barrie (Jamaican) and Drexie (German), the husband and wife combo running this place. There's a nice garden in the back for summer nights and BBQs. The rooms are pleasant with traditional touches and modern fittings and wonderful linens. The shower is a bit weak. The bar is well stocked with a wide range of beers and a good wine list from wine buff Barrie. Full English breakfast was wonderful, high quality. We noted the appealing Jamaican lunch and dinner menu and will be coming back for that.

It was a very comfortable stay Parking available Jas was so welcoming Room was very clean & comfortable Breakfast was good too Will definitely stay here next time we are in Lewes & try out the Rum !

Good location to explore the South Downs from and not too far from Lewes. Room was adequate for our short stay, comfortable bed and nice towels. A fan and fridge in the room would be nice additions. Room and bathroom could have been cleaner though lots of cobwebs spotted! The breakfast was fine but a little limited, cereals and full English the only offerings.
