Misrepresented with an Unresponsive Host
I was suppose to stay 17 nights but only stayed one night. The apartment was not how it was represented on VRBO's website. While the layout of the apartment was true, the cleanliness of the apartment and how bright it was inside was not. The rugs in the livingroom and bedroom were dirty and hard, shower curtain was nasty, couch had all sorts of stains on it and appeared broken at one end, there was a thick layer of ice in the icebox, you could see where they had done some patch work on the walls but they did not paint the walls to cover the patch work they did, and the lighting was way off compared to the pictures shown on VRBO's website. Host was unresponsive as they never replied to messages I sent them through VRBO's website. When I spoke with the management company they admitted that they needed to switch things out but never gave me a timeline as to when these things would be corrected, so I had to leave. I refuse to stay in an unclean housing. The management company did say normally they do a big clean on an annual basis. I requested a refund via VRBO and through the management company;however, the host refused, to which I plan on fighting the charges. This place, to me, is run by a "slum" host and unfortunately VRBO has allowed it and was unhelpful and did not live up to their guarantee as they told me that the lack of cleanliness is a minor issue, thus there was nothing they could do but offer me $120. I am highly disappointed with this experience and VRBO.
