The good—apartment was clean, pretty, comfortable, everything as described and the location was wonderful. Street was charming, if sometimes noisy (close the shutters at night to avoid the sound of the trash trucks at 3 am). Otherwise felt like a neighborhood with babies, families and sometime quarreling neighbors below. It’s very close to a metro station, especially if you go through the neighboring ALDI to the Avenida da Liberdade. ALDI is almost next door which was great for basic breakfast stuff, drinks, etc. you’re also not far from the train station and restaurant row, with tons of good places to eat. All within easy walking distance. And if high-end shopping is for you, there’s plenty of that on the Avenida. There are also three really good neighborhood restaurants on the same block as the apartment. We ate at all three and would recommend them all (but make reservations, none have many tables). So the bad. The automatic door locks (through a computer website) were absolutely awful, especially for the front door. We got stuck outside both of the first two nights (once after a long flight and at mid-night), Add to that the phone number for the “host” (really a call center) was wrong. We eventually figured the keys out but it (and the lack of lights in the stairways) were really frustrating. Would we stay her again? Yes. But owners need to improve the access to the building, fix the awful motion-detector lights and get the elevator working.

Excellent location near Avenida metro and plenty of restaurants within a 19 minute walk. Great bathroom (caution water is very hot!) comfortable bed and nice kitchen dining living room. Our only problem was with the opening instructions which said to turn the lock clockwise when it should have said counter clockwise. But the Almeda folks had someone over in 15 minutes to sort it out.
