Booked a luxury double. Checked in and was put in a dormitory style room. Multiple beds. Very odd. Not clean - filthy windows and carpet - and not what booked. Shower poured everywhere too. Good breakfast tbf.

The room we were allocated had 6 beds and was too big for our needs the room was obviously used for hen/stag trips and was well used. Bathroom floor worn and hair straightener burns on the carpet. Curtains were not hung properly and generally felt worn. The hotels main area was lovely, great breakfast and lovely staff but I’m not sure I would stay again unless with a group of girls.

The room was very big, the TV was poorly situated in the room could not be viewed from any of the beds in the room. The dressing table was in a dark corner with no light. The tea and coffee was found inside the wardrobe and had nowhere to situate it. We had to use the bedside table. The door handle fell off and fell on my husbands foot in the middle of the night. The bedside lights had loose connections and window catch was hanging off so we could shut the window. Towels smelt of cooking fat. The chaise longe was under a very large picture that you bang your head on. Breakfast was cold on the first day, the fried eggs were snotty today. The staff were accommodating when we raised these issues. We personally would not stay again.

We arrived and Receptionist was helpful. We got to our room and looked ok until we started looking around, there was stains on the carpets and cushions, the sink in the bathroom wasn't draining properly so had to wait a while before anyone else could use it. The kettle was in the cupboard and on the base of it had white powder on it (definitely wasn't sugar). Got to bed time we couldn't close the curtain because it was hanging off, the receptionist put safety pins to hold it until the maintenance came the next day to fix it, but because it was so high the receptionist couldn't reach the top to put pins so the street light was on my son all night, came next day the maintenance had not fix the curtain when we got back at 4pm, so it was very dark as we was in the navy room. We went to the reception to ask if it was going to be fixed but the maintenance people had finished for the day and to wait for the manager to start shift at 7pm. Such a shame because it’s a brilliant idea to have everyone together in one room.

This was our 2nd stay at The Dixie Dean & was as enjoyable as the first time. Excellent location, staff extremely friendly and helpful, rooms huge, and breakfast amazing. This hotel will definitely be a regular Liverpool stop for us.

Hotel was lovely clean fresh looking room was huge but smart and clean. Staff all the staff we're really helpful and friendly from the reception through to the breakfast staff. Breakfast was superb a big choice from cereals to croissants and the good old English breakfast and great selection of drinks.

Fantastic hotel to stay in. Very quirky and the staff were very knowledgeable and polite. They are a credit to the hotel. The location was perfect as it was very central and very close to the Railway station. We would definitely be back again.

Historic city centre building. Nice large rooms with ornate decoration. Aircon which was really appreciated during the heat wave. Large period ground floor area with bar. No restaurant facilities but did do breakfast (couldn't take advantage as started too late for me). Carpark close by.
