Had a great stay at shankleys some parts of hotel are ready for a make over but room was clean and tidy, my only gripe was no usb ports in room sockets either side of bed should be changed. Would recommend this hotel very central.

Would not recommend staying here, for the cost it was terrible!! no hot water, pay over 40$ for breakfast and then have to beg for a cup of tea!! seriously. Manager was no help, even when discussed concerns the answer was "will look into it" Do not waste your money, stay anywhere but!!

This hotel is clearly very old. The lobby looks like it’s trying to be hip but the rooms while large and spacious have no modern conveniences. There were no usb ports to charge a phone. The shower head is in the middle of a deep tub but with no shower curtain to prevent the water getting into the floor and so a little dangerous getting out of said tub

Our room looked shabby . We had two single beds pushed together to make a double and it was quite uncomfortable. The bathroom ceiling had mould growing in the corners , the jet tub bath wouldn’t drain properly and the Lino flooring was ripped and coming up in places . As you first walk into the hotel it looks lovely and very welcoming and all the staff are helpful and friendly. All they need to do is give the rooms some tlc and have a bit of a up.

The property is in a great location. The property just needs to be updated, very worn, the carpet ripped up, furnishings old and not kept up. Definitely not worth the price we paid for the room, but it was a match weekend for Liverpool, so I’m sure that is why.

Great hotel!!
What a lovely hotel in a great location. Loved the 9 bedroom room we booked for a friends birthday it was ideal for a big group, with comfortable beds, big table to eat and drink around. We also had a large jacuzzi bath which some of us had a dip in. We were lucky enough to stay when the hotel had 50% off food. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to stay again soon.

We booked a room for 5 people to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. On arrival we were given a room with 1 double bed after complaining we were given another room with 2 double beds, staff came & put another single bed in for us. There was 2 towels for 5 of us. The staff were saying the booking company had made a mistake but my confirmation confirmed their would be enough beds for all of us. We weren’t impressed with the room they obviously only post a select few on social media as this was far from what you see the room wasn’t clean, I wouldn’t of stepped foot in the bath. This hotel is not cheap so we were highly disappointed the best bit of our stay was drinks in the bar.

Property was in a great location. Room was incredibly dusty, and some of the communal areas were a bit rough around the edges (carpeting not fitted properly). Room itself was good, could do with some additional lights as even with all on, it was quite dark. Conversely, I expected that, due to the central city location, the curtains would be blackout, but they were not which meant the room was light when sleeping.

The room was ok very rustic. The windows were dying to be cleaned and the bathroom was not cleaned properly there was dust everywhere and the floors were dirty my white socks were black after 10 minutes.Very disappointed after the amount I have paid.

All fantastic from start to finish. Totally recommended. No problem getting food delivered to the hotel. They were really accommodating and swapped our room so we had a big table. Nothing was too much trouble. Guests allowed in the rooms until 10pm. Breakfast amazing. Thank you Shankly hotel.

It's in the best spot around all next to shops and restaurants the hotel it's self is getting a bit worn down from partying, my biggest moan is we missed breakfast our fault but the staff said theirs some left if you want to pay so we did £45 sat down for some food what was left soon as we sat down the same staff took all the drinks away and food so I had to say you've literally just took our money and then taken the drinks away I said please could you get both my kids an orange juice and they was very reluctant to do so but did in the end when I said you've literally just taken our money !

Disappointing, room freezing!
Location of hotel is great but unfortunately it isn’t worth the money. The room was very cold - we turned the heat on when we came into the room but it didn’t work and we all woke up absolutely freezing. Couldn’t wait to get out of there to be honest. Room was minimal and definitely in need of doing up. We were celebrating my son’s birthday and had asked for anything special they could do - only thing offered was a dessert plate with a message which cost £8.50 - considering other hotels do things like this as part of the service, it was very overpriced for what you got. Just added to the underwhelming experience. Regularly go to Liverpool and have stayed in many different places in the City - won’t return here and wouldn’t recommend. Much nicer hotels about for better value.

Enjoyable stay, clean, lovely staff, comfortable beds and lovely room for a large group. Beautifully decorated. Will definitely be back. Only issues we had were the keys. Struggled to access the room problems with the lock/keys. And the room was cold in the evening despite having temperature on the control on 28 degrees. The road/path works next the hotel made it dangerous for pedestrians as there was no allocated pedestrian path.

Don’t waste your money!!….
Absolutely terrible. Don’t waste your money staying at such a delapadated hotel. Really needs some TLC. Booked it for a 21st birthday surprise as a couples trip. Very disappointed. As walking into the reception, it’s very glam until you walk through the doors to the room bits after speaking to the RUDE staff on reception. Stayed in room 406 with the shower only being hot and not being able to make it any cooler that boiling and the door being scrappy at the bottom. Dust all over the floor with dust hanging from the ceiling. Dirty windows and grubby paintwork and wallpapering. Have the option to use apple air play on the tv but couldn’t connect, asked the reception and apparently can only use Samsung phones on Samsung tv even tho there’s a option for apple devices. Every morning after breakfast, both key cards wouldn’t work so had to go downstairs and got told it might be because it’s check out day when it clearly wasn’t every morning!
