My wife and I spent a week at Augustus Cottage and could not have wished for anything.

My wife and I spent a week at Augustus Cottage and could not have wished for anything. The cottage was very spacious and warm of an evening. It was so peaceful and relaxing which is exactly what we were looking for. There were plenty of red kites to watch from the comfort of the cottage and we even had the local sheep come and greet us every morning. We are definitely going to come back again. We had no problems at all and if we did the owner was a phone call away. We highly recommend this cottage.

Very peaceful location perfect for relaxation and with friendly locals. Good walking on the common and by the river for us and our dog. The only pub in the village, The Red Lion, doesn't do food. The Plough Inn only 15 minutes down the road, dog friendly, does excellent food. We were very lucky with such good weather that allowed us to sit outside until late.

Perfectly appointed for a peaceful holiday

This is a lovely cottage, good sized rooms and all the facilities you need. The location is remote and the village shop not really adequate for a proper “shop” so a quick run to the Landovey Coop is 6m away or simply bring your stuff with you. I had 3 dogs with me (pre arranged with the owner) this is amazing for them, the cottage is right opposite the common land which you reach by opening your gate!! A fairly decent morning walk along the riverbank will take you 40 minutes and you won’t pass a car, lots of waste bins around too. The back garden is secure, mine are small terrier sized and mid sized but old so no chance of them escaping but a persistent bigger dog may find a way. Check with the owner as he is really helpful and can advise. I would definitely recommend if you want a central base, and somewhere quiet. It has excellent Wi-Fi I took my fire stick and that worked fine. Nice welcome pack from the owner and the heating system requires a mention on its own… insanely efficient, the heat seems to stay in the walls but if you are coming back from a wet day within 30 minutes the cottage is cozy, or a you can bed in with the log burner!
