Thyme is one of the most prominent aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean and it is a very popular cooking ingredient in the regional cuisine. In ancient Rome it was seen as a symbol of strength, courage and sacrifice.It was even embroidered on the garments of highly ranked Roman generals. During the Crusades thyme was offered to the knights before going into battle to give them strength.
