Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands

10/10 Excellent

"The highlight for me was the pool access and the beach access. The pool had very picturesque views of the beach. It was excellent how there was an adult only section too. Staff was incredibly helpful and always willing to oblige. Breakfast was a very busy place. Even though there were a few items of food that were Maltese, it would be helpful to have a little bit more background information about these foods given that you are in Malta. Perhaps a Maltese section? Even things like honey, capers, olives, cheese etc. Are these local products? The restaurants that were available at the Radisson Blu, did not really reflect Maltese culture. Even if there was a little cafe which served good quality hobz biz zejt, octopus salad with potatoes and capers, pastizzi, qassatat, skewers of local watermelon etc. promote the Maltese culture. Guests are interested in sampling good quality Maltese cuisine. Parking was a bit difficult but we always managed to get a car park. I would most definitely come back. And I would recommend this place to others."

"Location of hotel was excellent, 25 min taxi from the airport at a busy time of day. Sliema, across the bay from Valletta where the hotel is was well placed for catching the water taxi 3euro/ ferry across to Valletta. Although not on the sea front the hotel had an excellent pool, bar, lounges etc on the roof that gave a panoramic view of the sea and Valletta. The hotel also had its own beach club on the sea front a short walk away and a gym located across the road. Very up-to-date tech wise, the hotel had its own app which was used to book dinner, spa appointments, use of sun beds/ gazebos and had your access code for the room. We stayed in a superior room that had what you needed for a comfortable stay, and if you needed anything else, you were able to request it via the app. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good selection for breakfast and evening meal equally as good. Getting around from the hotel not a problem. We were only about 400m from the bay that had lovely restaurants and cheap transport across the bay. UBER taxi very fast and efficient. Took a trip to Gozo via the ferry that took just over 1 hr, worth doing. In sum, hotel was perfectly located for your holiday needs, could not fault it."

"We were lucky enough to get a suite with a view of the harbor. The suite had a separate living room, so my sister and I each got our own space and separate air conditioning units. The suite was quite roomy with a lot of space. Hotel was fairly well located. We had an excellent view of Valletta and the entrance to the harbor. There were restaurants and shops close by and we were only a 10 min walk to the Ferry. This hotel was great and I would stay there again."

"This is a well appointed amazing hotel. I had no idea how large it was. It’s very efficiently run. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is very clean The children’s pool with slides is perfect - we had my 2 year old granddaughter with us. Ricardos and Luzzo restaurants are particularly good. In both restaurants there are large well equipped children’s areas. We also liked the adults area especially the sky bar in the evenings and had a wonderful meal at Minoa restaurant on 11th floor with fab views over the bay. The outside area is safe and pleasant unlike many popular areas in Malta which are just shocking. AX hotel is expertly run and I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend this hotel"

"Super nice front-desk staff, this is very important as it is always the first impression you have of the hotel. Check-in and out was very easy and seamless. Not sure if the hotel is old or just not very well maintained, but my room smelled very strongly of a musty odor which did not air out or disappear over the course of my stay, and which actually permeated my clothes after only a three night stay and travelled with me for the remainder of my vacation that I concluded in Gozo. The hotel is by the waterfront and Malta is humid, but I'm sure this cannot be the reason, otherwise all hotels in the same area would have the same issue. That being said, the hotel does give you free access to an awesome beach club across the street, and for the price you pay in this area compared to the other hotels nearby, it is an obvious choice. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was fine."
