I’ve always wanted to stay at McNeils and it did not disappoint. From the massive yard, to the cozy cabin. It lies right on some of the best water on the brule, so fishing is made easy. Truly a memorable trip and unforgettable cabin. It was clean and we had all the amenities we could need. Definitely would stay again!
This quaint house nestled on the banks of the beautiful Brule River made for a great late fall getaway. If you want to disappear in the woods of Northern Wisconsin for a spell, this is a fantastic property to do so.
Had a wonderful time at McNeils’s on the Brule. It’s a wonderful location, and a perfect place for hanging out with friends and family. Will definitely be coming back!
Our family had its annual Brule deer hunting trip. We had an amazing time. Communication was excellent as always and the property is great. See you next year.
McNeil's is the perfect place to hold our annual event on the river. I know that everyone who stays on site have a wonderfuld time and the grounds are fabulous.
We always enjoy our stay at the house! We’ve been with the family several times and each time we don’t want to leave. Very relaxing for everyone and lots of fishing available. Can’t wait to go back!
We had a great time staying at McNeils on the Brule. The place was spotless when we arrived and was lucky to meet Greg in the woods! Great place and great people
This is the third time we’ve stayed at the house and every time has been great. Being so close to the river is great and very relaxing. It was nice to be away from everything, but close enough to explore Bayfield and Superior. I hope we’ll be back again!
This was our 6th Year for our annual trout trip at McNeils. Couldnt ask for a more relaxing place then here. If you are looking for a great getaway with family or friends to enjoy time together right on the Brule with a home that has spacious room for everyone, this is it. Looking forward to our 7th time in 2024.
Location is beautiful with the river flowing right there. Front porch was so relaxing to sit outside, minus the thousands of mosquitoes. Having the grass cut would have been nice. Not having a door on the basement was alittle concerning with a 3 year old. We did bring a baby gate to put up, so that helped. And acouple door knobs came off, we think we secured the one to the half bath. Other than that, it's a lovely spot.

Brule 2014
We had another wounderful stay at this property! We stayed three days this time and would have stayed longer... next time.
Our focus was Kayaking on the Brule. Need more time to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.
Six brothers and brothers-in-law stayed at the house. The proximity to the water and the secludedness were fantastic. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Wifi was strong. The proprietors were very prompt with feedback and accommodating, including a last minute early access request.
We loved the house.
There was no washer or dryer in the house but if you look at the listing and amenities that's obvious. But I missed it.
If there is a knock, it's that the water which has a high iron content as well as a sulfur smell. If you bring lots of water everything will be fine.
We would gladly stay here in the future.
This is a very well-maintained house and exceptionally clean with newer windows ( which ended up being extremely important). The setting is gorgeous and the porch is a winner. The hosts were extremely responsive in spite of having to change dates.
My problems are my problems. I have asthma and anyone staying here should be aware that this is a musty old house. There is no door to the basement and I suspect the odor originates there. It probably didn’t help that the area had experienced record highs just before our arrival. That, coupled with a closed up house with no air circulation, made it a no-go for me. We left after one night. Opening all the windows did not help.
Just a reality check here but also the well water smells strongly of rotten eggs. The windows alone must have cost the owners a ton so I was surprised they don’t treat the water. Sone of the furniture is very worn, living room newer and comfy. The kitchen is modestly equipped ( another quibble: for the price per a night I would think the hosts could sanitize the dishes rather than make their next guests do so).
I wish past guests had given more considered reviews. Had I read any of these issues I would have found a property more suitable for me. Again, the structure is really sound. No creaking floors or inoperable windows. No mold or water marks. Very clean. The hosts were very nice. And perfectly situated for fishing the Brule
