"I do not write negative reviews lightly, but this stay was unacceptable—particularly in terms of cleanliness, safety, and staff attitude. The bathroom had an overwhelming, persistent mold smell from the moment I arrived, raising serious concerns about hygiene and air quality. The toilet also emitted a foul odor, making the space difficult to use. The bathroom appears to be a prefabricated unit awkwardly inserted into the room, with a dangerously raised threshold. The door sits about a foot above floor level. When I exited the bathroom, I didn’t anticipate the extent of the drop, my knee buckled, and I dropped and fell hard on my knees and hip. This is a clear safety hazard, especially for those with mobility concerns. Staff were inflexible and brusque throughout. After I accidentally lost my key card (it fell between a train and platform on an outing), I was charged 3000 yen (~$30 CAD) with no understanding or flexibility—an excessive penalty for a piece of plastic. Hiroshima is a remarkable place. It’s deeply disappointing this hotel detracted from the experience through poor maintenance, unsafe design, and unsympathetic service. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere."
