As I said elsewhere, there is so much more to Cradle Mountain than just Dove Lake. I drive about 100 kms, starting around 3.30 a.m. and dodging about 30 pademelons (type of wallaby) and two spotted quolls before reaching Dove Lake. Then I set out in the dark and walked for about 2 hours to reach this spot, hoping all the way the weather would hold. Can't begin to describe my joy when I found it like this.
Little Horn is the immediate peak you can see with Cradle Mountain behind it. If you get the chance, pencil in Twisted Lakes. You'll probably have it all to yourself.

Cradle Mountain Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"What a lovely location and quiet place to stay after a day in Cradle mountain NP. So close you can go in the park early before shuttle starts. There are few hotels available so we picked this one and are not disappointed. Price is on a high side but expected. Dinner need reservation if you want to be in the dining room but food is good. Breakfast buffet is superb with choices of both hot and cold. Unusual to have balsamic stir fry spinach and mushroom in addition to the usual. Nice to have Chia pudding and 2 types of yogurt and fresh fruits. The free laundry with detergents at the counter is unexpected and a plus. Only 2 washers and 2 dryers so you need to get in the queue and start asap when you get in. Overall very happy with the place. "
