We got incredibly lucky with a last-minute opening for a weekend stay at Ochenta Y Dos. Just a few hours after booking, Dave greeted us warmly at the gate and invited us in to share their home and business.
The property is recently built and absolutely beautiful. While Merida and the surrounding area is full of sights to see and great food and drinks to enjoy, some of the best moments of our weekend trip were spent at Ochenta Y Dos. Highly recommend an afternoon dip in the pool and a nap under the shade of palm trees, with the chatter of tropical birds and light music in the background. If you're really lucky, one of their 4 sweet pups will curl up with you to doze.
Rooms are more than comfortable, with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and a rain shower with a view, fresh air, and fantastic water pressure.
Dave and Patrick make a killer breakfast — there's even a rumor of fresh donuts on occasion! — and invite guests to join for a happy hour in the evenings. Great wine, small bites, and conversations of travel and experiences with the other guests and Dave and Patrick — who have plenty of stories to fill many happy hours :)
We extended our stay, and would be here even longer if we could. If you're planning a trip to Merida (and you should), book Ochenta Y Dos now.
