The property is in a great location and very affordable for the weekend. However, we were forced to give this place three stars overall because of communication and plumbing issues. We arrived at the property to check in at 4:00 p.m. on the first day. At that point, we had received no communication from the property host--no welcome message or even a message telling us the code for the front door. The property manager did not answer my VRBO message, so I tried calling him. He picked up immediately and gave me the code for the door over the phone. When we got inside, we found there was no welcome booklet, explanation about how to access the wifi, or anything else. I messaged the host about the wifi and otherwise, we managed just fine that first night.
By the next morning, the host still had not responded to any of my VRBO messages, and the master toilet was not flushing (when you flushed, it wouldn't flush all the way, and water would come up through the drain in the shower). I tried calling the host, but he didn't answer, and his voicemail box wasn't set up. I texted him, and he answered right away. He told me, "There is a plunger in the bathroom and the patio of the house. We indicate that all toilet paper be placed inside the waste basket to prevent clogging. See if you can unclog it using it."
At no point were we ever told to place toilet paper in the waste basket, nor was there a sign or other indication that doing so would be necessary. That said, when the plunger did not solve the problem, the host was quick to send someone over to fix the toilet, and we used the waste basket moving forward (but note, the bathroom trash cans don't have lids, which felt unsanitary).
I summarize my experience in the hopes that the host will be better about communicating check in instructions before arrival and also place a welcome packet in the house that explains the wifi access codes and warns occupants about the plumbing issues. I also recommend placing signs in the bathroom that tell occupants to use the waste basket and getting waste baskets with lids. The good news is that if you're staying here and have a problem, the host is quick to communicate as long as you text or call him--don't rely on VRBO messenger.
