"This has been our favorite hotel of the Sunday River area. We went in August and they had the pool at probably 94F, easy to walk in and relax for a while. Each night they had a nice diy drink setup with instructions. Each night the outdoor fire place was going - one night was marshmallows to roast.. the other night full on smores. Internet was fast. The room clean and quiet. Beds were spring mattresses which were hard to get used to from home. Front desk guy was very friendly and helpful. Valet guy was very friendly and helpful. Definitely check out the restaurant at the golf course for dinner if the weather is nice.. it is close and has a great view. The sauna and steam room were fun for my kids to try. I think the biggest weakness is just that the hotel is far from food options in the summer. Not every restaurant is open in the summer, and it's a 20 minute drive to Bethel where there are a lot of options but tend to be more expensive. We are a pretty small family, but the restaurants around the area seem to fine with splitting entrees for us to save money and not waste food. Definitely check out the gem museum, in bethel, they have some of the world's largest collections of moon and Mars rocks."
"We were a family of five and this was a great space for our family of four adults and one preteen to stay for one night before heading to Mt Washington."
"The owners Brian and Maria are wonderful people that work hard to make the stay, the property and your experience beautiful, welcoming and perfect. We have never had such a outstanding experience anywhere else. It was amazing. We will definitely plan to go back many more times in the future. We loved it there and didnt want to leave!"
"The Lake House at Stark was everything we hoped for and more! We planned for two nights but extended to three because it was just that good. The three story cabin is cozy yet spacious, fully stocked, and sits right on a stunning lake. We spent our days fishing (and grilling our catch!), canoeing, kayaking, hiking nearby trails, and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Phil and Cheryl were outstanding hosts, warm, responsive, and generous with their home and gear. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing yet adventure filled family getaway. We’re already planning our return!"
