Great location, super close to everything you need. Aquarium, food, bike path, beach/ocean. The room was comfortable. Free self serve breakfast (eggs, sausage, pancakes, and more, etc) and the free parking was a really nice perk. Staff was nice. Other reviews complained about the road noise but it didn’t bother us at all. Traveled with infant and it was a pleasant stay.

Just minutes away from Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium the Holiday Inn Express is a convenient stay in Monterey. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Covered underground parking is included and free hot breakfast is available every morning until 9:30am. Rooms are very nice, modern, and clean. Be aware that rooms along Foam Street (back side of the hotel) do get road noise. Also, the layout is a little funky and you'll probably go up and down some stairs to your room. Staff is very friendly and there is a tiny business center near the front desk. Complimentary fresh coffee is available in the lobby all day since they are trying to reduce the need for coffee makers in each room and the resultant package waste associated with them. Also in the lobby is a filtered water station.

Although this is an older hotel, management has done a great job of keeping it clean, well-maintained, and looking updated. The hotel is located in a safe area, within walking distance of just about everything you might need. I absolutely loved the location! The hotel does have an elevator, but there are still some stairs you may need to use to access certain rooms. If you have mobility concerns, I recommend contacting the hotel in advance to confirm whether a room is available that does not require climbing stairs. The breakfast selection was decent. The dining area was a bit small, but they made the most of the space and did a good job. I especially enjoyed the coffee! The staff seemed friendly and genuinely happy to be there, which made the experience even better. I also appreciated that the hotel offered parking. However, so many places were within walking distance that we really didn't need to rent a car. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere.

This place was the perfect location for our visit to Monterey Aquarium and Cannery Row. Free parking and free breakfast was wonderful, it’s hard to find good hotels that offer both. When I checked in I was tired and having a stressful day but the staff was kind, professional and helped turn the day around for us. The rooms were clean, the free breakfast was good and it was in walking distance or a short drive to everything we were boating. We will definitely return next visit to Monterey.

The stay was really well accommodated. The food was extremely good. The nice lady was really helpful. Also when it came to getting our food give her props for keeping the area clean as well as keeping the food stocked and fresh would definitely go back again, especially just for the breakfast. Overall this day was really nice

We had suite with two double beds and a pull-out queen. The room and common areas of the hotel were recently renovated and clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great, and it was a 2 min walk down to some of the areas along the Monterrey waterfront. Two complaints made it less than a 5 rating: 1) we got in late and there was almost no parking available. We got the last very tight space in the parking garage. 2) the pull out bed was very loud, meaning it creaked every time one of our kids moved.
