Views of the coastline from the outdoor air bath and east access to the beach for swimming and surfing were a highlight. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were great value and included local fish, lobster and abalone."

"Wonderful stay at a quiet hotel in Shimoda. A little dated and a little far away from the main town but beautiful views, helpful and friendly staff and an amazing ocean view onsen. My partner and I got a traditional Japanese room which was very spacious and comfortable."

"Great for family travel, good for solo travel. It's about a 15 minute walk to the restaurants and station so it's in a quieter spot with great view of the water. Best for longer, relaxed stays."
