“Unusually great place”

“Unique camping experience near the Great Sand Dunes. Spacious canvas tents with beds. Friendly staff. We loved the community bonfire and s’mores in the evenings. The to-go lunch packs and grill packs were great meal options. They have sand sled rentals. Our family really enjoyed our stay.”

“This stay started out bad on day 1. I arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon, 30 minutes before their check-in time, which is usually no problem for other hotels, it's difficult to plan your trip where you're driving all day and arrive right at check-in time. Well, the lady at the desk told me check-in time is 3:00, come back in 30 minutes, she said they were still cleaning. So, I went to sit in my truck for 30 minutes and watched the maids clean up the last 3 rooms, when I got my key, the room they……

“The Lodge is under new ownership, and I was told they’re gradually improving things. However, I can only review the experience we had. While it is rustic and homey, we had some issues during our stay. + The check in/out process was very easy. + When our room only had 2 bath towels, the staff responded very quickly to get us 2 more. - The AC in our room was broken. - The ice machine was broken. - There was a crack/hole in the bathroom floor. - The tub was dirty and needed to be scrubbed.……

“Quaint historic hotel: comfortable, clean and well maintained. The rooms are small compared contemporary hotels and motels, but that's part of the charm. The continental breakfast was remarkable with hot and cold food choices and plenty of fresh brewed coffee. Hotel staff were professional, helpful and friendly. An excellent value and a unique, positive experience.”

“This is a very unique place and I really enjoyed my stay. I had a suite and it was very luxurious. I was facing the movie screen which was great on movie night as I could watch from my patio. My only issue was that an hour before the movie they started playing loud music on the speakers. I had just returned from an active day and was enjoying a few quiet moments with a book. There was no escaping all the noise, unlike the volume from the movie, which was reasonable. I was surprised because the……

“Check in was easy and the attendant was helpful with food recommendations. The place is older and as such the AC Unit could use replacing or servicing - it was loud and shook the bed that was on the same wall. We would have really appreciated if the AC had been turned on for our arrival so the room was at a nice temp we arrived. Beds were comfy but pillows could be replaced (quite lumpy). Room was large and perfect for our big family.”

“Great idea showing movies to be viewed from the window. However, the screen is very far away and hard to see. But there was a beautiful sunset the other direction.”
