Coming here in the winter was the best last-minute decision we made. The Anderson cottage fit the bill for us and our two dogs. The views onto Lake Michigan were incredible, and walking along the beach, not a soul to be seen. I always wish VRBO would allow photo attachments. One of the sunsets was just phenomenal, and the frozen shore of Lake Michigan was a sight to be seen.
The main town of Whitehall/Montague is a bit far so having your own meals to eat in is definitely recommended.
This cottage technically sleeps eight, but in our opinion, it'd be a tight fit for that many people as it is 900 sq.feet. Although in spring/summer there'd be lots of outdoor space to utilize! As mentioned in another review, the shower is tiny. If you're of any size, forget it. My husband is 6'5 and it was OK for him but still tight.
The pictures are quite accurate. The place was very clean. Even though you need to bring your own linens, the comforter and pillows seemed very fresh. I can be rather OCD about some things, and didn't notice dust or other often overlooked cleaning. It appears the place has been updated as far as windows/doorwall. Not even a breath of the strong Lake winds passed through. And the internal blinds (not that we needed them!) are super.
The Wi-Fi worked fine. Not sure about the TV as we were uninterested in that. Bring a book, kick back and relax!!
I would highly recommend coming here in the winter. Most all of the other homes in this little stretch were boarded up for the season, and the solitude was truly welcome. Mike did advise to have an SUV and you'd certainly need one to traverse any snow covered roads out here and into the community where the home is located.
The OCD in me would probably rearrange all the kitchen gear, which seemed unorganized to me, but that's just me. The coffee pot was on its last legs, but after talking to Mike, I'm sure that'll be taken care of.
If you want an out of the way place to put up your feet and relax, this is it!!
